Incorrect Winning Pitcher

I had a game, where, in the TOP of the fifth inning, there was a 63 minute rain delay.

The next five batters got on base, and I had to remove my STARTER. He got no outs in the top of the fifth, and finished with 3 earned runs against in exactly four innings.

The relief pitcher came in, and pitched the remaining five full innings.

I was ahead when I made the pitching change, and I stayed ahead through the remainder of the game.

I expected to see my long relief guy get the win, but nope, it was the starter!!!

Pardon me if this has been addressed elsewhere, but this sure was a surprise to me.

Sometimes, if a starter does not go very deep in the game, the official scorer will award the win to a relief pitcher. Or it could be a bug.

The relief pitcher should have definitely gotten the win.

Yes, the starter has to pitch 5 full innings to stand a chance of getting the win according to the rules.

I did a quick test game where I made my opponents walk in the first 5 runs in the top of the 1st and then I let each of my pitchers work 1 inning. Obviously the starter was the winning pitcher of record (though my bullpen did their best to ruin the start), but because he pitched only 1 inning he didn't get the win. The W went to the first reliever who came in - he was the most effective of the relievers as well.

I'm going to move this to Technical Support and if you could post a screenshot of the box score that would be great.

Sorry...no screen shot of the game.

I should have saved it, my bad.

I don't think I will take out my starters after four, just to see if it repeats...

Without a screenshot or a file or a way to reproduce it, I'll close this one out until we can provide some information regarding what caused it. If someone does come across this issue again, please do save a screenshot or your box score or game log and let us know. Thanks.
