Is my manager actually managing my defense?

I searched pretty thoroughly and did not find that this question has been asked for this OOTP version:

When playing out a game, and having delegated Defense Strategy to your AI manager, is there any way to tell that he's doing his job and if so what defensive alignment he chose?

I keep looking at the infield and outfield defense boxes just before I pitch and they never say anything but "Normal." This may be because I have played out only seven games so far in my new OOTP 9 league, but I'm starting to wonder.

Anybody have a comment on this?

Are you playing pitch by pitch or one pitch mode. I too let the AI handle the D and I've noticed they bring the corners in when it is a clear bunting situation and I am playing pitch by pitch. In one pitch, I don't notice the difference, though it may be happening.

From a game control standpoint, having the AI set your defense should really happen AFTER you hit the button so you might never see it make a change.

Well, that makes sense. For example, the game would need to know that you were going for a pick off play at first before deciding NOT to bring the corners in, so it must be adjusting defensive positioning right after you make that selection. Thanks for the help, guys.
