Universe Idea - Can this be done in OOTP 9 ??

I'm still playing 6.5 (which was the best money I ever spent), but am planning to move to #9 next month when I get some free time to start a new idea. To those who have played the newer versions, please let me know if this can be done:

I'd like to set up a "Premier League" like in Euro Soccer that has no minor league feeder system. Then have two or three lower level leagues (A, B, C league ) that have their own minor league systems. The A,B,C leagues would have no affiliation to the Premier League.

Can I set up the financial system with smaller stadiums, markets, incomes, etc that will allow the "Premier League" to repentish their rosters only through "Free Agents". The idea being that the best players as they develop become too expensive for the lower leagues, and then move up to the Premier League as those are the only teams that can afford them.

This would be a solo league, so the AI would have to sign players just like the human team. I would keep the Premier Rosters at 30 or 32 for the full season in case of injury, but that would be your roster for the year, there would be no place to stockpile them for the year in the minors.

Thanks --

yeah, I don't see why not...

You could just have the premier league set to progress financially, and not check the box for the other leagues.......then in five years or so they will be superior financially going forward.

Or you could just lock all of the finances in all leagues and make the Premier League more profitable so it signs away the other league's best players. You can definitely edit all stadium and finance info at your leisure.

The only area to be careful on is the gap between the different leagues.
If say, the Premier league is handing out $500,000 contracts to great players, while the lesser leagues are only paying $20,000 to great players........then I believe many players that aren't able to get Premier contracts will elect to simply not play, because they will think their value is what is earned in the Premier league, and the lesser league contracts just won't be good enough for them.

Further, you'll want to provide the lesser league's with more then enough players to keep them stable, as they will be losing so many players to the Premier League. If OOTP recommends drafts of 20 rounds for each of the lesser leagues, you probably want to set them to 30.

Thanks, I appreciate the thoughts. I figure it will take a few trial sims to get the financial ratios down, so that the better players will move up at the proper rates. Would salary caps on the lower teams help or hurt this ???

I was thinking that once the leagues are established, each premiere team would only need to add 2 or 3 players per year from the lower leagues (weaker teams one or two more) because of retirement or injury.

Ideally I'd like a cascading effect, with players moving up from C to B, B to A, A to Premier, with young players who develop quickly perhaps jumping over leagues. Will take several trial sims I'm sure.

Any other cautions or ideas as I plan this would be most welcome.
