Patch#2 / When to start my season

For reference, I play the MLB 2008 season and use an expansion team.

I bought the game and applied patch one. I started playing and then the updated MLB rosters came out so I applied that. It said it only applied to new games so I started over.

As I read the threads about patch two I notice there are also a lot of suggested changes for the rosters. The main page says all changes can be applied to a current running season.

So I have two questions. Will the patch's roster adjustments be applied to a running season and, if not, will there be enough changes to rosters that I should wait until the patch comes out and start over again? It is supposed to be just a week or two until its release so it is not that big of a deal either way to me.

The confusing thing about the patches and the roster sets is when people (including OOTP) start talking about them like they're the same thing. The roster set is just a quickstart game that was made to include all of the MLB 2008 teams and players. It really doesn't have anything to do with the patching of bugs.

So, no, I don't think any of the changes to the roster set will take affect in your ongoing game, because they will be part of a quickstart that is used to start a new game. There will be changes to the game and its AI that will make it run and evaluate the rosters better. But if you're looking for it to automatically add missing players or change rosters or anything, that won't happen.

Good point. I kind of mixed two issues. But when patch#1 came out, it did make some changes to the rosters...like altering some ratings and changing Chris Young of the D-backs to Chris B Young so he and the pitcher from SD didn't have the same picture. So I guess I am asking if there will be similar changes in Patch #2 and if it can be applied to a current game like the other changes in the patch or if you have to re-start your season. I bought OOTP 8 last year after the patches were done so I don't have any experience with how they work.

That's interesting. I don't know how they knew which game you had created in order to update the rosters! But if they did that for P1, then there might be others similar to that in P2.

Actually, I restarted for those to take effect, hence the original question. Are the changes being made worth waiting or are they so small (roster wise) that it be a big deal to just continue as is.

Ah. Well, I'm not sure. I know there's this thread where they're asking for people to make suggestions, and there are a ton of 'em.
