Making pitchers better hitters.

I believe that pitchers should have variable hitting abilities in OOTP just like any other player. Granted most will be terrible especially MR and CL but there are a select few starters who are good hitters and there are others who are below average but not poor. As it stands now all are poor and it is just by random chance if they are better than this.

Does anybody go through and randomly update pitchers hitting ability in their current leagues? I am thinking of doing this in my solo league, maybe making it a reward to all teams who make the playoffs where one SP gets one of their hitting abilities upgraded slightly.

Yep. I update many of mine. There are no designated hitters in my solo league and relievers are somewhat obscure as most starters are expected to go nine innings. So, I try to update my pitchers so that most can bunt well so as to help move runners over. Some I make very good hitters, as well, and others are good on the base paths with steals. The only problem in previous ootp versions is that pitchers would revert back to pathetic offensive skills over time. Not sure if it's the same in this version.

Yep, I edit and make a few pitchers good hitters.

I make some of them good athletes that can run and steal and hit, some with real good power.

But I don't overdo it.

I don't understand this question. In my fictitious league, my team has a few good hitting pitchers (.240 lifetime BA or better), and my ace pitcher isn't a bad base stealer either. He has averaged 5 SB (with a 60% success rate) a year over his 6 year career, and a couple that are just awful.

I checked last night and pitchers are created with different hitting abilities. I don't think this has always been the case. However, IMO there needs to be some pitchers that are good hitters. Some pitchers with a little bit more power than most. Some who are created as very good athletes. I believe this does not happen enough if hardly at all. Of course it needs to be very limited. I'm not asking for a change to pitcher player creation or anything, just seeing how other people handle it.
