Post How do you like your burger?

Was wondering what mode owners of this game go down? Do you like to manage your favorite big league teams as is or do you like to dump all the players into a pool and draft fantasy style? What do you find most challenging? This game may force me to lock myself in my room and not come out for a few months.

I don't use real players.

Its much more fun/challenging IMO to manage a team of fictional players that you have no preconcieved notions of.

Besides real players are gone a few years down the rode anyways as the league evolves.

I started a season with real players (2001 imported season), but I got bored of doing roster moves and off-season trades that put Mo Vaughn on the Mets, Antonio Alfonseca and Matt Clement on the Cubs, Giambi on the Mets, Bruce Chen on the Expos, etc. (I might resume this when the opening day rosters come out).

I started the career 2002 league in OOTP4 demo, but have yet to imort it into the full version.

I created two fictional leagues with fictional players. One is based (entirely) in Canada, the other in Europe. I have found these to be the most fun overall, as there is nothing historical or realistic about it.

Usuallly, I'll take a "lower tier" team and try to make them competitive in the future.

To do this, I'll still trade for the future, but I won't have it to point where I'll have $35 million to go out and sign free agents, and use that to get top tier free agents. I'll sign maybe one main free agent guy a year, depending on who it is, and if he'll be around to help when I'm competing for the playoffs down the road.

Most of the time, I'll also have a fantasy-drafted league to play around with on the side as well.

Give me a burger with deli mustard, ketchup, pickles, onions, maybe some lettuce, maybe some BBQ sauce.

Loveburger baby

First person who gets that will receive a smiley face in my next post reserved just for them.

I just started up a historic league starting in 1918 where Ruth DIDN'T go to the damned Yankees. I'm hoping to take that through the century and beyond.

I also usually have a worst-to-first type campaign going on in the background to whatever is my main career.

I personally, like using real life players. But as another poster mentioned, after a few years, they all retire anyways, so what I like doing is starting off with a real life roster set, then just let the league evolve from there. To me, this helps ease the transition from "real" league to "fictional" league alot easier. It allows the player to use real life players, while he/she gradually brings along fictional rookies.
