Creating new Players?
Hey guys.. I was just looking over the rosters, and realized that the Braves didn't have either Charlie Morton or Jason Perry on their roster. Is their anyway I could create a player, already being in a game? Also, is there a website or something that I could base the players ratings off of, or is it all just whatever I think he should be?

Go to Free Agents. There is an option to create a fictional player. You can then edit him.

I would suggest taking a look at comparable players already in the game, editing the new player accordingly. You need to be playing in commissioner mode in order to see the Editor tab in a player profile.

I think you have to be in commish mode, however.

Who would you guys compare to Charlie Morton then? And Jason Perry? I know Morton is the promising starting pitcher who is floating back and fourth between AAA and the Majors, but I wouldn't know where to set his velocity, etc. at. And Perry, the 27 year old journeyman outfielder who puts up good numbers in the minor leagues yet hasn't been given a chance in the majors. Any recommendations for who to compare them to? |

I've been playing the game for a few months now, just upgraded to OOTP9. Needless to say I'm sufficiently hooked. I appreciate the attention being given to historicals in this version, as that is my preferred method of play.
This thread seems like a good place to offer a suggestion for OOTP10. If this is too difficult to code feel free to say so, but... I would like to be able to create a player from stats/personal info via user input. In other words, I plug in the name and stats and voila OOTP creates that player. For earlier eras, when some stats are not available, OOTP uses whatever stats I do have and then uses historical PCM's to finish the player. Taking it a step further, if I wanted to enter minor league stats for a player OOTP would then create him and after creation he would then embark on further development relative to the minor league level of the stats I entered. I've worked with the player editor to accomplish what this thread author asks for, but it takes some guesswork and is kind of clunky. It would be so much easier to just input stats and generate a new player. I have seen so many posts about incorrect roster sets, and I appreciate the work the roster creators do (for free, apparently). The ability to do some of this ourselves without arbitrarily assigning ratings would make the majority of these complaints/frustrations go away... Thoughts? |
