Scheduleing question
Originally posted this in the OOTP8 forums but since OOTP9 came out those forums are kinda dead hehe. Figured i'd post here so i could get more views.
Have been trying to manually schedule series with championship teams from two (or more) completely seperate leagues after thier own championship series have concluded in order to have an "ultimate champion" but haven't been able to swing it to my satisfaction. Was wondering if any experienced users might have suggestions that I haven't thought of (OOTP8 btw). EXAMPLE: I created two totally seperate leagues, the ABL and the NBL (starting year 2007). I control a team in the ABL. Both leagues have standard 162 game schedule and playoffs. After the playoffs are over and both league champions have been decided (by October 20th lets say), I would like to add on an extra series between the two league champs to decide a "world champ". The problem is that the schedule editor won't let me add games in the same year (2007). I would like to start this "super series" on Oct. 22nd 2007 but the schedule editor will only let me add games in the year 2008 (or 2009). I suppose I could do this but players file for free-agency late in 2007 and players retire as well so championship teams will most likely not have thier "championship squad" on the field if I schedule this series in January 2008. Would eventually like to have 4 different leagues (American, Cuban, Japanese and Canadian) playing at the same time and then having the winners play for the "world championship". Any experienced users see if I'm missing something or is this scenario not doable at all? Thx for any help and or suggestions

To do what you want you'll likely have to manually schedule exhibition games between the league winners. OOTP isn't, as yet, really set up to do playoff series between the champions of completely separate leagues (though it's something I'm constantly pushing for). The game is really only intended to conduct playoffs between the champions of subleagues within the same league.

I imagine them as being akin to major league postseason series before 1905, when they were ad hoc, not quite "official," and didn't necessarily happen every year. |

Yeah I've managed to make it work but it took a bit of coordination of schedules. Had 4 different leagues (National, American, Canadian and Cuban), and adjusted their start dates so that their playoffs would finish at the very end of December. I then had about a 3 week window to manually scheduled playoff series between league champs at the beginning of January to decide the world champion, before free agents filed. Seems to work well enough
