Stats versus Ratings

Which is more important? In addition, once a player starts a yearly downward spin, can they come out of it? Finally, what are the peak ages for batters and pitchers? I'm guessing batters around 27-30 and pitchers 29-32 or so?

Well stats are what the player is actually doing, so if your guy is rated all 7s yet hits .220 while the guy rated with 5s is hitting .270.... (beware of small sample sizes, however)

And, yes, a player can rebound and have a few more good years. It just happens less often than a continual decline.

Batters peak at 28, pitchers at 27, IIRC. That may have changed.

Really? Pitchers are almost universally consdiered to peak after batters.

Maybe I mixed the two up then. Always possible.

I do know however that in OOTP a batter's best contact years will be in his early twenties, his power years in his mid-to-late twenties and then both usually start declining into his 30s as his walk and eye abilities should improve and/or level off.
