Defensive Ratings During Draft

Something that has always bothered me is that I can't see the fielding pct for players in any of the lists on the draft screens. Isn't this an important piece of imformation? Wouldn't you draft a player with bad range and a good fielding pct before you drafted one with good range and a bad fielding pct? It's a small pain to have to look at every player to see what their pct is when I could sort the players.

Not necessarily. A fielder with an A range and a .900 percentage will still get to make alot more plays than one with a D range and a .999 percentage. Even though 1 in 10 plays will be botched, not all of those will create errors. And the fact that the A range means he can create more defensive plays will offset those errors making him more valuable that the D range player.

That said, I think you're suggestion is right that we should be able to sort by fielding % in the draft and trade screens. This has been suggested in the "Wish List" forum.

Something I would like to see for the game would be more attention payed to fielding stats. The game only keeps track of the past season and current season's fielding stats, and the HTML player pages doesn't give any fielding stats either (current ratings, yes, but no actually numbers). Those are at least 2 places I think they should be.

Also would be nice if the game determined lineups after looking a little harder at defense. Not enough "fielding experts" get into the lineup if a marginally better hitter is there, even if the hitter cant catch a cold (Im talking about Ray Ordonez type players).
