A bout of wildness

My starter has a control of 88, interestingly enough. Yet in one of my games, he can't seem to throw anywhere near anything.

Check out the HBP/WP totals. I'm truly impressed that the Indians only scored 5 runs, and that my SP didn't walk anyone.

How do you not walk anyone and yet hit that many batters and throw that many wild pitches? I have to think that his HBP and WP ratings got FUBAR'ed at some point.

It's unnerving to see that kind of performance. Statistically, it's only April 9th, so I'd guess it's likely you may never see another wild pitch from this guy. Who knows? If your league totals and settings are in line then over the course of the season, it seems to always even out, despite doing it so oddly at times.

Ideally, with coach/manager settings or game engine, especially in a modern era, no pitcher should be allowed to remain in the game accumulating that number of HB. I often feel the same way about the manager's tolerance for the number of walks allowed in any given game.

I took a look at him in the editor, and found out that his "Hit Batsmen per 550 BF" is 118, and his "Wild Pitches per 550 BF" is 169.

I always wondered why a 77/88/88 starter was rated 20/20 without scouting. I guess that's why. :P When I changed those values to more reasonable ones, he jumped to an 80/80.
