Question Regarding Lahman Database
Will the Lahman database that is included in the new version of OOTP be updated prior to opening day to reflect trades made in the offseason?
I'm a big Cubs fan and was hoping to start a season with Kosuke Fukudome on the Cubs roster. I'd like to hold off on buying it if the database is going to be updated to reflect post-season transactions. Thanks! Matt |

George,
The Lahman Database comes from Sean Lahman's Baseball Archive at http://www.baseball1.com/. There was some wink, wink talk about how OOTP acquired it before its official release in order to include it with OOTP 8; the Lahman web site still has not released it officially, saying that "the database will be available for download before the end of December." It may be, then, that the official release will be slightly updated for 2007 than what we have now, but it has never been my impression that it is updated during the offseason for trades and FA acquisitions. Unless I am wrong, it's a snapshot of MLB through the end of the 2007 season and it will not be updated again until the end of next year. That being said, you could download it when it comes out officially and take a look at it (the database comes with a readme on how to use it). If you prefer the newer version after comparing it to what came with OOTP 8, you can copy the downloaded database over the game version in your data\stats folder. |
