Getting started building rosters - help

I am interested in building a complete roster file that will include all current teams as of 2009 with complete statistics through 2008. I have no problem updating players at all levels but am not sure how to get started. Using the lahman database, I can have mlb statistics updated through 2008 but this file has none of the minor league teams or players in place. I can use the 2008 season included with ootp but how do I change the start date to 01/01/2009 so I can upload all statistics through 2008 without having to play out the 2008 season? And finally, is there anything out there that has minor league statistics that can be uploaded. Thanks for your help. If I am able to pull this off the set will be released to all. I have already collected all real uniforms, player pictures, team rosters and player data, etc and have a great level of knowledge on player's skills through all levels of play.

can anyone tell me how to take the 2008 roster set that came with ootp and fast forward it to 01/01/2009 without playing out 2008 and then uploading all appropriate stats through 2008?

When you are creating/importing, there are options to "keep imported year's stats" or something like that (working without the game, sorry). And there should also be an option asking you what year your league is to begin, which in your case should be 2009.

I believe when you do both of these things, you'll have each players 2008 stats in his profile and your start date when you create the game should be Jan. 1, 2009.

Good luck, when I get the time I'll check this advise with the game and give more accurate directions if needed.

I opened ootp and started a 2008 season. I went and made sure I was in control of all teams and blocked AI trades. Then I went into each league and deleted the schedules. I auto-played till 01/01/2009 and for some reason the teams still play the games. I have tried three times. Every time, no matter how much I delete the schedule, the teams still play the games out. Any ideas?

If you follow T-Bone's instructions, you can manually change the date before you start the game
