Showalter, Texas Ranger

That's what ESPN sayz. I don't think it's a good fit, this team isn't a year away from winning.

I'd say they're about 8 years from winning. How many good pitchers could you employ for $25.2M a year?

Rangers will win the World Series in 5 years, the year after Showalter's contract is up!

I think Showalter is a great fit for the Rangers. Not sure whether the playoffs for next year are in the cards but I do believe he will make a positive impact. The Rangers have been one of the least disciplined teams in baseball for the last few years and Buck will surely help turn that around. They have had two real gentlemen managing for the past few years and it hasn't worked out all that well. Showalter is a legitimate hardass and I think that attitude is just what this team needs. I think he will run off some high priced dead wood and truly develop what he has in the farm system which is at least a little above average. Hart has wanted his own man from the outset and Narron wasn't it, now he has his guy. Hicks isn't a great baseball man but he has the money to get some players and a burning desire to have a winner. I am optimistic about the direction the Rangers have gone.
