New York Giants 1901 and on
I have always had a huge interest in the New York Giants and San Francisco Giants history so in this dynasty I will trace back to the early years of the New York Giants and chronicle my attempt to run a baseball team in the early 1900`s.
Starting Lineup 1. RF George Van Haltren- A true team leader, He is getting up their in years but at age 35 he can still hit .300 in any given year, expect him to be a giant at least until his contract is up in 1904. 2. 2B Danny Murphy– the 24 year old is a very bright spot in the future of the team he might not hit .280 in his first season but he can contribute and gain experience in the league. 3. SS George Davis- A great great guy to have in the lineup every day he can definitely put up the numbers for us over a long period of time, and being only 30 he still has at least 5 or 6 more season left in his bones. 4. 3B Charlie Hickman- A man who wont necessarily hit for average very much but he can put up team leading power numbers and has the potential to put up league leading power numbers. 5. LF Kip Selbach- He is our best hitter all around, being able to put up high average, BIG power numbers and a good amount of steals he is the heart of our lineup. 6. 1B John Ganzel- He is not a huge guy that we want to have going forward, we will look for possible trades to get him out of town very quick if he begins to struggle, this will be his only chance to hold on to a starting job. 7. RF Curt Bernard- This guy is a developing star and will probably have a HUGE role in the future of the team at 23 he will be seeing his first glimpses of the bigs. 8. C Frank Bowerman- a great catcher to have around if you want a good old fashioned hitting catcher, if he doesn’t perform as he gets older he will likely be shipped out. We have plenty of catchers in the minors. 9. PITCHER Bench LF Al Maul- Al is way past the point that makes him useful to a team like the Giants, or any team for that matter, he is VERY close to being gone. 3B Aleck Smith- One half of our infield Smith brothers out of Pennsylvania, look for him to step in if any of our infielders get hurt.2B Heinie Smith- The second half of the aforementioned brothers group, I will likely hold on to Aleck but the brothers might be split up if I don’t see Heinie performing. LF Jim Jones- He is someone who might put up OK numbers but might put up crappy numbers so we will watch that closely. C John Warner- If Bowerman gets hurt or isn’t performing up to my standards Warner will likely step into the role. IF Sammy Strang- Sammy is another part of a great future for this team, we have amazing plans for strang and in the future he could put up MVP caliber numbers Next up: Pitching Report Last edited by dynastyman; 11-30-2007 at 03:04 AM. |
