Teams still showing up after deleting leagues?

Hi guys, I had posted a while back about trying to find out how to delete subleagues from a file without the players in the subleagues showing up in the FA pool.

We got that taken care of.

Now however, our file says that the deleted teams are still able to assign a manager to. Is there anyway to get rid of this? Can we edit the teams.dat file? If so, how?

All help appreciated.

What exactly did you do when you deleted the subleague?

I released the players into their respective free agent pools, (i.e. Nippon league, Cuban League, etc.), deleted the players in those FA pools, and then deleted the leagues though the League Setup menu.

You didn't delete the teams individually before deleting the subleagues, presumably?

When you say, "Our file says that the deleted teams are still able to assign a manager to," what exactly do you mean? Exactly what are you doing and seeing?

I didn't realize I could delete the teams before deleting the leagues, never found an option for that so I just assumed deleting the leagues would also delete the teams.

When I was assigning GMs for our new online league, in the drop down list where I go to pick a team to assign them to, the leagues and teams I deleted still show up for me to add them as a manager to. The game then scouts players for that team, that doesn't seem to exist any more. The teams have home pages and all the other tabs, but no players on their rosters.

I've never come across this before, so we'll have to start experimenting. First, back up your league.

Try editing your league structure again to see if you can find the teams there. If you don't see them immediately, try adding the subleague back in to the league. If they show up, delete the teams and then the subleague once more. If they don't show up there ... I'm not sure how to access them off-hand.

Do you mean manually add the subleague back? I deleted all the foreign and winter leagues like Nippon, Cuban, Venezuelan, Mexican, etc. Leagues. It would take me untold hours probably to add them back in in the state they originally were (Nomar's roster file).

There's no way to edit the teams.dat file somehow? I don't really know if this will really effect the league at all, but if those teams (they don't show up in the database team totals) are taking up some kind of memory (I assume they do, since the reports and pages/tabs etc. still exist if a GM is added), then its just more fluff that inflates the league file.

Thanks for your help so far, I know all you guys volunteer your time to help us out, and its much appreciated.

Aw, man. I thought that you just got rid of some of your sub-leagues, not entire leagues themselves.

I don't know anything about editing .dat files other than it's an extremely risky thing to attempt. In fact, as long as those teams are part of your history pages, I'm fairly sure that you don't want to entirely get rid of them.

Since their appearance doesn't really hurt anything, I would recommend simply leaving them there.

So far it doesn't seem to affect anything, so I'll definitely be back if issues arise.
