Post OOTP vs Baseball Mogul games

I'm a big fan of the baseball mogul series, extremely addictive but relatively devoid of features. I played Season Ticket BB, which was supposed to be similar to OOTP3, but I really didn't like the clunky interface...it also just wasn't as addictive as BBM IMO. OOTP4 looks much more professional in terms of interface (looks alot like BBM). What does OOTP4 do that STB and BBM doesn't do, and would OOTP4 be good for BBM fans in general?

OOTP4 is a year older than version3 and has many added features to keep the gamer interested. It will definately be better than last years version, IMHO. STB is a scaled down version of OOTP3, how much different they are is in question by me as I have never playerd STB.

Will you like OOTP4 over Mogul. Who knows...its just like Pepsi and Coke. Everyone has different tastes and expectations.

I would say give OOTP4 a try

First and foremost in game management.
Secondly it allows historical leagues easily with the import of the Lahman database.

Much more in depth game play. I played Mogul 2K, then the demo for 2K2, in my opinion that version of the game was the same or only slightly better as Mogul and while it was fun, it just wasn't in depth enough for me. I heard of OOTP, tried and was hooked. I like to have more control of my team as a GM; I like more details of managing the minor league levels, I like having to worry about the difference between minor league and major league deals (rather than default 30K (1pt I think) deals for rookies). I liked being able to easily set up fictional leagues, I liked being able to edit the statistical era of the game, in general I just liked OOTP3 more. From the testing I've done for OOTP4 its a huge step forward.

I don't know how well I've articulated this. But for me this game was much better than Mogul. Mogul just didn't have as many options that I was looking for. (I used to spend days trying to set up a fictional league, just the way I wanted) To me this game was just better.

Try <a href="http://www.bigcitybaseball.com," target="_blank">www.bigcitybaseball.com,</a> most OOTP add ons will work with STB.

Well OOTP 4 has added the trading block feature which BBM has. Just IMO but I had a problem getting into BBM due to not enough depth and no "in-game" mode.

Spend some time here on the board the next few days reading what guys have to say abotu v4, then make up your mind.

Baseball mogul is a lot easier to jump right into. If I were Clay(the maker) I would be a tad bit demoralized looking at OOTP's features. I think there's room for both though.

BBM 99 was my first baseball sim game, and I had a blast with that game. I've had the rest of them since then, and have progressively lost my entire interest in the series with each one. I don't know why, but nothing that has been done to that game has made it any more *fun*. There isn't really any satisfaction with BBM series. You don't get to draft a player who has the talent but not the skills yet, then nurture him into a big league star and follow his career to see how he's doing. In BBM, good players will start out good, very few get good that started out bad. I personally think that about OOTP is the clincher, the draft and the minor league system. Nothing quite so satisfying as seeing that raw kid you drafted 4 or 5 years ago hit his first big league home run for you.
