Player names -- Joe Unknown
I am playing a world where I am the manager of the Class A St. Lucie Mets. When I go the the pitching screen to set my rotation, I have five starters and only four relievers. When I played my first game, I had a fifth reliever named "Joe Unknown" who had awful ratings in every category. Later in the game, the team I was playing against had a pinch hitter named "Joe Unknown."
Anyone know what's causing this? Is there an option somewhere to generate player names that I forgot to activate? |

Those are 'ghost players'- they're all named Joe Unknown, they're created just before a game and deleted immediately afterwards, and they all have terrible ratings. They're only used in minor leagues. Depending on your league setup, ghost players can be very useful. You'd normally switch them on when you don't have enough players in your universe to fill in your entire minor leagues, a common situation when you import players from a historical database, or when you use some of the real life roster sets with incomplete minors. If you're playing a standard fictional universe, and you have enough rounds in your draft, you shouldn't need them. You can turn them on and off from somewhere in the Game Setup menu.

Felix Unknown
Well I looked at the MLB AVG leaders and Felix Unknown is hitting .390 for the Cubs in the standard MLB rosters for OOTP8. WTF? I renamed him Felix Hernandez or something like that, but still.
