Another PBP Example
Again, the pbp doesn't seem to equate with what I'd expect from the field action. I suspect we have some hard coded 'order of events' working in conflict with the play's intention. First pic is the field position as the play begins, second is the first part of the pbp, last is the final portion. Tell me what you think.

Salinas, not Lozano, should be identified as the player who slides into third base.

My main complaint about the pbp is that it's linear. I don't like that, and there's no real good reason for it as far as I know. In your example the announcer is an idiot, Lozano advances to third, Salinas advances to second... OH wait, Lozano is going home. Surely the game isn't deciding the play so slowly that it just figured out that Lozano is going home. It makes more sense to me that the play would be simmed, then taking a look at what happened it creates the pbp for it.
Then it would fall in for a hit, Lazano rounds third, the throw home, Hall cuts it off and fires to third to get Salinas, Lazano scores and Ludwig holds at first. To me this is one of those annoying plays that comes out as 20 lines when it should have been 13 or 14. All of this beside the fact of the bug PStrickert pointed out of who's reportedly sliding into third. ![]() I think I got the names mixed up, but you get the point.

I logged quite a few of these in OOTP 2006.

Yes, you did. To your credit, I believe a lot of those were addressed, as best they could be. All in all, I find the pbp easy to follow with the exception of these few instances where it's a bit confusing as to "who's on first?"

Yes, the example you showed was pretty confusing, even after a couple of reads. Tysok made a good point above.

All my time in beta was spent working with the pbp, so I take it as a good thing (after all the posts on it last year) that there's almost no posts about the pbp whatsoever for this version.

This has been claimed fixed for the third patch, as yet unreleased. If you continue to observe this issue after patching, please post as such in Tech Support along with the TT number listed above. Thanks.
