Team available in Laseron
The Laseron Baseball Associaton has an opening with the Sobtec Bay Sea Kings.
We are set to start the playoffs on Wednesday(2/14) and the Sea Kings need some attention before rolling into the 1923 season. They have an aging roster but still have under contract one of the leagues top players Montague Gherkin. Laseron is a 20 team fictional league. We have 23 seasons of history preserved on CATO. We have a creative group of GM/writers who would lead you to believe that Laseron is a real place. Please hit up our commissioner brianlbarrett at gmail.com if you're interested.

Whaaa? This opening hasn't been filled yet?
The Sea Kings need some guys re-signed before the file rolls over this weekend. They have an early draft slot. The Kings need you and need you now!

Unsolicited testimony: I was the owner of Sobtec Bay two owners ago (until the real world got in the way), and believe me, if I had time for one OOTP league this would be the one. Whoever fills this opening is in for a great ride.

Bump.
The future of this league is slated for a conversion to OOTP 2007 eventually... If you currently have OOTP6.5 and are looking for a great OOTP community come join us. The LBA isn't just about winning, its about fun, simulation and imagination.

I can't believe nobody's grabbed this team. If I didn't already have a team in this league, I'd jump at this one just to have the chance to manage Montague Gherkin.
![]() Really, this is an outstanding, well-managed league with a great premise and storyline and a superior group of GMs. If you should happen to appreciate such things, you really might like it.

This is a good time to join the league. We are running one more season in v6.5. Then we’ll be converting to v2007. We are in the planning stages for the league setup. So, if you joined now, you’ll have a say in how the league will look and be run in the future.
The Laseron Baseball Assoiciation is fictional league setup in a fictional world. (See map of Laseron) It has two leagues of two divisions each with five teams, for a total of 20 teams. - The league has been in existence since June, 2002. - We will be beginning our 25th season. - We are using v6.51b. (Switching to v2007 after this season.) - Our entire history is stored on Catobase. - We sim one week on Mondays and Wednesdays. And we sim two weeks on Saturday. - The top two teams in each division makes the playoffs. - There is an $85 million salary cap and a $15 million team cash maximum. - We hold a Rule V draft. - Our amateur draft is set for June 15th. We begin drafting in the off season. Statistically, the league mimics the majors late sixties, early seventies. We have a 154 game schedule. Dominant pitchers can have ERAs below 2.00. But there is a fair amount of offense. We've had one player go 50-50. We've had another player bat .400, while three other players have come close. Still, we regularly have players hit .300 with 20+ HRs and 110+ RBI and win our Rick Blast Award. ![]() Sobtec Bay (click here to see their roster) is a rebuilding project. But it is not without hope. First off, Montague Gherkin is a very good veteran player. He could be traded for some combination of young players, prospect and draft picks. Secondly, Sobtec just drafted Luther Mask with the third overall pick in the draft. He’s the best pitcher in the draft. In a couple of seasons, he’ll be paired with Leroy Paris. That would be the beginnings of a good rotation. And they already have a young closer, Bill Monier Managing this team will be a challenge. But it is not impossible to turn them into winners or, eventually, champions. The league is competitive. There has only been one dominant dynasty in the league’s 25 year history. In fact, no team has even won its league championship more than three times in a row. And that was only done once, 1903-1905. The league encourages writing, but the only requirement is to respond to trades in a timely manner and remain active with respect to exports and drafts. If interested, please contact Brian Barrett. You'll find his email address here. Last edited by Dark Horse; 05-26-2007 at 06:10 PM. |

I highly recommend this league to anyone who is considering applying. I honestly can't believe no one has jumped at the chance to join. This is extremely rare for us, usually we have GMs on a waiting list. Perhaps it is because we are still using 6.5? I realize these leagues may be a dieing breed but we are switching to v. 2007 next season so don't let that hold you back!

This league is still going? Nice. Glad to see it's still around. I had a lot of fun back in the day running the Destroyers.
