Downloading historical players

Is there a way to download historical players after you have started a season? I am trying to download Jake Peavy but have already started a historical best of all time season.

You can go to free agents and use import historical player though i dont remember if you have to be in commish mode or not.

Thats when the game crashes. It gets to about 85 percent and then goes to the screen that says OOTP Baseball has stopped working and then it shuts down. Is that a glitch that I should report?

I'd say any crash should be reported, yes. The game isn't supposed to not work.
