Editing a MR to a CL

An owner in our league wants to change a MR to a closer. If he does that on his own will the file be corrupt when he sends me a team export ? Does the game look at this rating... MR and CL when used as a closer in the pitching chart and apply any differences in their ratings in the game. In other words, does a pitcher designated as a MR used in the closers role make any difference in performance.

I'm not certain that the change would transfer, also I was in an online league for 5 or 6 seasons and used a MR as my closer the whole time w/o problems there is no difference.

There is nothing that prevents a team from using a MR in the CL role or vice versa. You can also change a MR's primary position to CL and vice versa. However, you cannot change any pitcher's primary postion during the season, it must be done before the season starts. But, as I said before, you can still use a MR in the closer role without being a CL. I'm not sure if there is anything programmed into the game that takes away from the performance of a MR in the CL role - I suspect not, as I have done it many times before with seemingly no problems.

I believe the change would transfer (just as changes to player primary positions transfer)... but you can only change a pitchers role between ST and the First Game of the season.

IMO changin a MR to a CL role would be a foolish move, as there is typically little/no benefit to have a CL guy as a CL over the MR. In addition, players with the CL role typically want more money in contract negotiations, so it can sometimes be beneficial to leave the player as a MR.

when you change the role of a MR to CL the other teams will give you more for him in the trade market.. Thats why you cant change them.. It does not effect the players performance if you put them in the CL role if they are a MR.. Just make sure they have a high clutch rating..

MRs are a hell of lot cheaper to resign than CLs, too. Change a good MR in his negotiating year to a CL and you are talking about a $2m/year increase in signing.
