I can't Scout

In OOTP '06, my scouts stopped going out on their assignments. My quick scouts stopped being saved to the next sim, so I had nothing to go on. My commish released all ofmy scouts and gave me all new ones, and the same thing happened...

In OOTP '07 of the same league (upgraded this past offseason), my scouts now hold the quick scouts from sim to sim. HOWEVER, they still do not go out on assignments. There are two ways to send scouts out; first, click on the tab below to scout the organization or league, while the second is to go to the tasklist for each scout. I tried both, and nothing works EXCEPT scouting my team (and MLB team only) when idle. I cannot send scouts to scout my organization, to scout other organizations, nothing. Please help!!!!

Some supplimental information from the league's commish:

I've tried:
*Acting as his team and assigning the scouts to scout teams
*Firing his scouts and hiring new ones

I've also hired one of his scouts after firing them, and I was able to assign him perfectly fine.

As far as I can tell, no other teams have this issue.

We were using the latest patched version of OOTP 2006, and upgraded to OOTP 2007 after patch 2 came out.

Any ideas what the issue is? I've tried everything I could think of.

For clarification, what exactly happened in this circumstance? After simming a day, all trace of the scout being sent on assignment disappeared?

Well, as this is a carry-over of some sort of issue in 2006, I don't think that we can find a cause very easily. We're probably best off trying some workarounds.

My initial thought is to have bgstmetfan resign from his team and then immediately rejoin the team. That may clear out his scouting data and this problem along with it. You could do this manually by Acting As him. Give it a shot and let us know how it works out.

OK, latest attempt here:

I noticed that the only time my scouts went out on assignment was when they were idle, and they had something to do when they were idle. I told my top two scouts to quickscout my MLB team, and the other scouts to fully scout my whole organization. Well, it's supposed to take 2 days to quickscout the team and 24 to fully scout the organization, but my scouts stay on 1 day and 23 days left, respectively (after 11 days of simming). Any ideas?

Yup. I think that your Commish should have you resign from your team and then immediately rejoin it to see if that fixes the problem.

I don't think so. Your manager history may show that you left and then rejoined the team. Any of your current scouting data will be reset, but that doesn't seem to be much of an issue. If no games are simmed between resigning and rehiring, I don't think that the AI will make any changes to the team, but you may want to check transaction logs to make certain.

Anyway, he could make a copy of the league, make the change on your team, and test it out by simming a few game days. If it works out alright on the copy, then he could make the change on the actual saved game.

When it was tested, it seemed to have worked. However, the league had an issue with the scouts (they disappeared) in the new sim, so we had to have a new file uploaded again. Maybe that caused the scouts to not have done anything... In any case, I'm trying to send them out again... but in case they don't work, please have some backup plans ready.

You mean that everyone's scouts disappeared? As in the commish disabled scouting for a sim?

Not sure, but everything is solved now... except I don't get emails with scouting reports. That currently isn't a big deal, except our league will probably be adding international scouting sometime soon.

Sorry, that's definitely a hold-over from a bug or other problem pre-conversion, from what I can see.
