DFA problems
Hey there. I just started playing a few days ago, and have run into a problem with taking a player off the DFA list. This only applies to players I traded for. I can put them on my secondary roster, but they still remain on the DFA list, and the computer tells me to remove them but I don't know how. Players that I put on the list and then send to the minors are removed immediately from the list, so I'm a bit puzzled. Do I have to send the player to the minors? Help!
Edit: Also, how does one remove a player from the active roster but keep them on the secondary? Thanks! Last edited by antiherowes; 05-16-2007 at 06:51 PM. Reason: added question |

1. You can assign him to your major league roster (active roster). You must put the player on the 40-man roster before you assign him to the majors. 2. You can assign him to a minor league roster. a. Players with five or more years of major league service can refuse assignment to the minors. b. If the player has a major league contract, he must be placed on the 40-man roster before being assigned to the minors. c. If the player has no option years remaining, he must clear irrevocable waivers before being assigned to the minors. 3. You can attempt to negotiate a trade involving the player. 4. You can release the player. |

Just caught your second question. You can demote a player from the active roster to the minor leagues and still leave him on the secondary roster.
However, under MLB rules, the player may be out of minor league option years or may have enough ML service time to refuse the assignment. In this case, you have to try to get the player through waivers, trade him, or release him. The manual has a great section on Roster Rules and Management. You should download it and read through that because there are a lot of details that you should know about. |

Thanks for your help. I have read the roster sections of the manual, but I don't think I quite grasped that the secondary roster was not a delineation from the minors. The manual wasn't explicit on that point. Thanks again.
