a couple of bugs

I removed the skins folder by mistake. The next time I started the game it gave me an error then locked up. I was forced to use the Window's Task Manager to kill the app. I know, I know, don't remove the skins folder. I put it back and all is well. IMO, the game should have exited after reporting the error.

I created a league, finished the initial draft, set up my lineups and stuff, sent some scouts out, then simmed through spring training. After that I went to change the minor league team names and put in the correct logos.

I tried to use this as a hat logo.

http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?lo=4979

I converted it to a PNG using MS Paint but did not change the size. When I loaded it up as a hat logo for my AA team it crashed the game. If this thing is too big, the game should tell me so and not use it.

bump. Is this where bugs are supposed to be reported? OK I see the other forum now. Can someone move this thread to the correct place please?

How is either of these a "bug"? YOU deleted a folder that YOU shouldn't have and YOU tried to use an image that was too large. If you read any number of threads in the mod forum or "gasp" the manual you would have known the recommended size.

Gosh, with all the images used in this game, it would take forever to load and to play a game. The manual suggest the logo sizes and if you stick with that you would be okay. Also, the game would not know the size of the logo until it tries to use it, then you would get the error. How is the game going to know in advance without checking every image?

This is not a bug it is just a problem with a customized image that does not fit the expected limits of the game, simply user error.

Guys, if the game crashes, its a bug- period. There is arguing this. Software should be made as as fool proof as it can be made. Thats what 'fool-proof' means. As I said, these are small things, but I figured they would want to know.

This setement always bugs me, when did we get to the point that software needs to do the thinking for you, and be fool-proof. I don't remember this being on the future list, that this game is fool-proof. is there an easy fix, yes, either re-install the game, or look in the deleted bin for the folders and undelete them. The goal of software should not be to make a better fool, but to help make us smarter and more effective.

Not to mention, and I'm not tech expert and could be wrong, what harm does a re-install do to league files? Just delete the program from your Program Files, and re-install. If you had any leagues, they should be safe, assuming they are put in the standard "fool-proof" area we lovingly call 'My Documents'.

N'est-ce pas?

Or, in this case, entertain us.

Anyway, I found a little bug of my own, but I kinda like it.

That's an awfully silly thing to say. If the game crashes, it's a bug? What if the game is running, and I go in and start deleting stuff out of data folders? Or what if I have the data folder on an external hard drive and I pull the plug on it? What if my dog runs under my desk, knocks my computer over, and my video card pops out and the game crashes. Should I report that in the Tech Support forum as a bug?

Programs crash for a variety of reasons, but not all of them are due to bugs.

I supposed in the gaming world one can see this as a silly statement, and with some merit, but consider that my background is in mission critical systems where any system crash- even one caused by some fool doing something really stupid- could cause loss of life. So its with that mentality that I look at these things. They can address it or not as they see fit.

I deleted the explore.exe folder and all the .dll folders from my windows xp directory. Now my computer won't work. Dang microsoft and their buggy software.

Then I took the battery out of my car and it won't work. Dang Ford and their buggy cars.

After that, I took the sim card out of my phone and now it won't let me make calls. Dang Cingular and their buggy phones.

Finally, I stuck a knife in my toaster to get out my toast which had stuck and I died. Dang Black and Decker for their buggy toaster.

Are you starting to see the point? When you do things you're not supposed to do, its not a bug, its a user-end crash.
