Yankee and White Sox fans - 2008 rotations

I know it's early but I'm already looking forward to NEXT season's Yankee and White Sox rotations. Do you think Gio Gonzalez and/or Jeff Karstens will be in their respective team's rotations?

I have both in a fantasy keeper league and am planning my keeper list.

I'm no Yankees or White Sox fan, so take it with a grain of salt, but IMO Karstens will never be a regular part of the Yankees rotation. Gio, on the other hand, might do some quality work for Chicago.

That's actually what I was thinking too. Karstens has great numbers but the Yankees have to much $$ to not replace him with a stud.

No, the Yanks already have better options. Karstens may get some starts next season, but the Yanks already have better options and will indeed pursue pitching on the market as well.

Karstens is just not a huge talent.

Actually, I was downplaying Karsten's chances based on his middling numbers and the some of what I've heard about him in the Yankees thread.

Here's how I see the 2008 Sox rotation, for better or worse:

1) Buehrle
2) Garland
3) Vazquez
4) Danks
5) Floyd / Masset / Haeger / Broadway

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised to see Contreras in that mix somewhere, since the Sox seem loath to get rid of him for some crazy reason. Then again, that's probably more because he's on the hook for $10 million a year through 2009. Allegedly, the Mets are still interested, though.

Gonzalez looks promising, but I don't think the Sox will throw him in the mix this quickly - he's pitching very well at AA, however.

No way on Karstens.

Though, I think he'd do well as an end-of-rotation type guy, the Yanks have a few prospects they rather give a shot before giving Karstens the full-time job.

And even if Karstens did start in the rotation in 2008, he is the type of guy that would be pulled quickly after a bad start or two.

The best Karstens will ever be is a back of the rotation starter, and he may never even get there.

Gio's done really well in AA this year, but he's a year away from entering the rotation.
