What is up with Backup ?????????

What is up with Backup ?????????

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just bought the game recently and I got my league ready to go and decided to do a test season before I actually started to play out a solo season. Before my test run to see if the stats looked acceptable I backed up the season so I could return to the beginning of the season. I also hit the save button before I started and went to load saved game after my test run but all I got was the saved stats for the whole season. I hope there is a way to return to the beginning of my season since all I wanted to do originally was do a test run, now I'm having trouble getting back to the start. Seems this isnt as easy as 6.5 was in doing this. Please help ......

Best way to backup is to manully copy the contents of the actual game folder. The in-game backup only saves the essential.dat files.

So this means I can't go back to the start of the season ???? I made a backup before my test season and went to my backup folder after the test season was over, copied and pasted over the saved games folder within my league and it does not return to the start of the season of which I backed up.

Whatever happened to the easy way where you make a backup folder on your hard drive and set a path to it in the game and presto it's there, not this confusing extra step crap............

I preferred the old backup system as well and used it often in previous versions.

I understand how to do it in windows, outside of the game, but I far preferred the old in game system.

Maybe you could just save game and rename the file.

yes that would work

however it doesn't change the point that the previous versions backup was far easier and user friendly.

with the end result being (like all backups) that when it was easy I backed up often, now that it is a pain I rarely do.

It had better! That's what backup is for. It won't get you your txt files and html and stuff, but copying the dat files from the backup folder into your saved games folder should take you to the point where you made the backup....then you just have to delete all the txt and html files so the player histories and box scores go away.

It's not as easy as a "restore" button or a "reset league" (which I thought I saw was coming back), but it should work fine.

I totally agree. However, it would be much easier to eliminate the back-up and simply have a 'save as' option like SI's other game uses coupled with an option to turn off auto save.

absolutely! I have been requesting a save as for some time - would be the best possible solution IMO.
