Do certain positions get injured less?

In my solo league I have a great hitting catcher but the guy is prone and always getting hurt. It is starting to hurt his ratings a bit so I am thinking of converting him to 1b/3b where I have noticed prone players get hurt less often...

Is this just my imagination or is this a real phenomenon in the game? Do certain active positions get hurt more often than others?

I wouldnt be surprised if catchers get hurt more since there are collisions...but I dunno.

I have not seen any consistant pattern here, which is probably a good thing. Some prone players seem to never get injured while others have a pretty major injury each year, and this goes for all the positions (C-RF to SP/MR/CL). It sounds like your particular player is simply more prone than other prone players, or just unlucky - I don't think it's related to him being a catcher specifically.

I have had great success with prone relievers being relatively injury free but again is this just my perception or reality? It does seem conceivable since they pitch fewer innings than starters... So while they may still get injured as often over the same number of innings, when compared over seasons their frequency is lower.

Now with 1b/3b types I am thinking they get injured less because they usually make fewer number of catches on balls hit to them and fewer throws. I know 1b have to catch a lot of balls from the other infielders but I understand this situation may not be looked at the same in the game. All I know is that I have seen a large number of prone 1b with successful careers but I haven't actually tested anything to know how accurate this is.

Has anyone ever done a test or understand the game mechanics for this?

I haven't done a test, but my rough sense is that pitchers, especially starters, suffer a lot more injuries than position players. As to position players, it seems like I see a few more guys go down at 2B,SS,3B, but that's slight and probably coincidence. Catchers don't seem especially injury prone to me.

Remember that players can get hurt while on offense, too. I would bet that aside from pitching, more players are hurt swinging a bat than from playing defense.

HBP, fouling a ball off of your foot-ankle-leg, pulled hammy, rib/wrist injuries from the torque of swinging for the fences, etc.

Of course, that has to do with realilty... not with Markus' machinations.

I have noticed catchers do seem to get injured quite often due to collisions. They're usually worse injuries too. But I have run no real tests on it.

See thats what I have seen too Portlander. My catchers when they get injured in collisions usually go out for about 5-6 weeks unlike the nagging 1-2 week injuries you often see. I find it is those 5+ week injuries where you see skills diminish too.

So does that make good catchers more or less valuable? Could go both ways...

I once had a catcher, who was rated prone, only get injured once (for 3 weeks) in his entire 15 year career. I wouldn't put too much stock into that rating. In a fictional league I once had a player injured 6 times in one season, gone for 2-3 weeks each time.
