Facegen limit question

In a different thread Marcus seemed to indicate there would be no duplication of faces.

Is there a limit? If we run 100+ years, full minors, world leagues, we'll -never- run across a duplicate face?

Retired faces don't get recycled?

Just curious if there's a top end to all of this, or it's just a 'you'll likely never reach it' kind of thing.

The faces are generated on the fly, there are no presets. Thus, it is highly unlikely (think lottery win) to have two players with the same face in 100 years.

There probably COULD be duplicates, but there are probably so many parameters that the odds are highly against it.

Suppose there are 64 noses, 64 mouths, 64 foreheads, 64 cheeks, etc. That's a lot of permutations and the odds of getting two people who look exactly the same are infinitely small.

I'm assuming, of course, that there are more than 64 of each type - there are probably a multitude of variations for each parameter.

I think it's more like 2^32 per type...

2 to the 32nd noses? Crikey! That's almost 500million noses! And eyes. And eyebrows. And mustaches. And glasses. Jeez I wonder what the odds of getting a Groucho Marx in center field would be. Don't laugh. The law of uncertainty practically assures this eventuality.

Okay so there are 4,294,967,296 different types of noses times 4,294,967,296 mouths times 4,294,967,296 eyes times......

I have the retail version of FaceGen and the amount of different types of looking players (people) are virtually endless and I am not exaggerating. Duplicates are possible only because of chance, not because of the limited ability of FaceGen itself.

I thought I found a bug the other day. It would not generate a face for a guy. Then I realized it was Ted Williams. Need to have a head to generate a face.

I'll probably get flamed for this but I think most of the faces come out looking very similar to each other. I think it's a cool feature, though.

I remember thinking that about Layton's tool, but these are looking better to me actually.

I like the faces but I hate "those" kinds of beards and would like to see more goatees & sideburns for pitchers!. Keep it comin'.
