Title Bout: State of the Game 7/28/06
Hello, the few and the proud and the faithful!
Having found renewed energy after another lengthy bout with health problems, I'm going to try to address where the game is at and where the game is going. Everything that follows is both doable and intended to be done - however, none of this is on a time schedule or anything of that nature; so please don't take this as some dyed in wool proclamation that "it's coming in a few weeks!" A) Fight Manager is NOT going to be released as a separate game. Instead, modules will be incorporated within the current game to allow you to build your stable and manage it. All such modules will be optional so that you can play Title Bout in whatever fashion you so choose, mixing and matching to fit your gaiming style. B) Some of the modules that will definitely see the light of day include: Morals/Personal Character Rating - this rating will dictate a fighter's behavior both in and out of the ring. One type of "personality" may manifest itself as "trash-talk" or, more seriously, in an attack on a referee, involvement in bar fights, etc. On the positive side, a different "personality" could result in television commercials, increased popularity - which means higher purses on better venues. "Create a Fighter" Module - This module would be a sophisticated way to create fictitional fighters or even real fighters whom you wish to add to the game. After answering a series of questions that would "guide" the creation process, a click of the button would produce your fighter. "Bout Scheduler" Module - Not to be confused with the existing "auto-scheduler", the Bout Scheduler would be used to create a list of available opponents for a fighter in your stable. It would factor in time since last bout, quality of fighter, etc. It would also eliminate fighters who had recently be knocked out or TKO'd and on temporary suspension, etc. "Fighter Earnings" Module - This would allow you to track a fighter's earnings if you so desire. It would work hand-in-hand with his initial rating, his ranking, his popular appeal and will be just one more attraction if you are role-playing with the game. C) A new graphics look will accompany any new release. We've read your ambivalence about the "Spreadsheet" look and will address it. The current format offers the most information in the most concise manner; however, many of your are more concerned with ambience that practicality. We'll strive for a balance. One issue that will most definitely be addressed is the "coloration" of the fighters. The black vs. white issue will be resolved. When two blacks fight or two whites or any combination, the graphics should and will reflect it. Also look for more sound and speech at appropriate times. Finally, once again we would like your input on a number of issues, so please, if you have the time and inclination, vote on the upcoming polls. We realize that only a hardcore few keep this forum alive; however, your voices are the most important; and, hopefully, there are a goodly number of lurkers out there who might be willing to take part in the polls. Thank you for your continued support, Jim Trunzo |

I like this idea much more than I did the notion of a separate role play game. The problem with role play games is that they can be mastered and as such do not lend themselves to long-term interest.
Combining RP with the existing TBCB game is a much better idea. I would especially appreciate the ability to track earnings for the fighters in my little universe. My only plea is that whatever comes out allows older databases to be converted. Great to hear from you Jim! Christopher

The combination of the RP and TBCB is an outstanding idea! Hopefully updated DB's will be merged into your current one so you don't have import fighters into the new one that you added from CW.

Glad to see your back on your feet, Jim.
Having a Disabled List and tracking injuries would be cosmic. Also looking forward to new improved screen graphics and sound. I'd pay extra for that!! Buddy Last edited by Buddy Whatshisname; 07-27-2006 at 12:44 PM. Reason: Sudden brainwave. |

Have you come up with the name will it be Title-Bout 3, and will we get a discount?
Good to hear from you hope all is well. |

Great news Jim ... now all the haters can crawl back into the wood work, or go play the "in development" perfect boxing game that will be out any day.

Would a hater buy the game when he could have had it for free as a tester? I think not. Before you get carried away new documentation was promised in mid-February and unless I am much mistaken it has yet to see the light of day. I would welcome new documentation to help me with the following features which I don't fully understand like aging and auto-aging, the new ranking method (customizable in db.ini file!- what is the db.ini file?) and the importing and exporting of files. Or does asking about this make me a hater? |

I'm happy to hear that you health has improved. We all hope and pray for your continued good health. I like thia modular idea very much and give you a thumbs up on the project. Are there any possibilities for additional modules? Twenty round bouts of longer finish fights from earlier eras or a London Prize Ring Rules module? Keep up the good work. Bear |

Well you guys did say another game was never gonna happen but of course you're conveniently forgetting that now of course. Nobody is going to get on people for making suggestions to make the game better but people who go around saying this game will never happen by the way try this other game ... they can go away for all I care.
Okay so no documentation but I know I personally spent about 3 days helping to explain the auto aging and I know Andreas completely explained the db.ini file as well as others did too. You must of been off playing WCBM then. Funny I singled out know one, so you guys sold yourselves out, good luck with that. Quote:
See right there, you could have touted your new little game with no problem but taking the shot at TBCB ... that makes you a hater. So you can continue on your little soap box saying "Mh called me a hater because I wanted different colored boxers" but you sold yourself out on this one nut |

What part of more fighters don't you want exactly? Please explain why you wouldn't want more boxers, this would be really good to hear. Seriously lets hear your debate on why 3500 boxers is far better than an unlimited amount? That's like winning million dollar lottery and saying please it's a colossal waste of time to give me more than $3500. boxingnut was once a valued member of the community, and despite my differences with him right now I still have some respect for him and would welcome him back with open arms if he's quit bad-mouthing the game on other sites ... you on the other hand have never contributed anything more than a waste of space. |

Mike: please tone done the rhetoric, it really is not helpful. Boxingnut: Sorry if you were offended, I hope that you and Mike can make up and move on. Buddy: I hope you remain offended and leave. I have had quite my fill of you and your pissy little attitude. The only silver lining is that you thankfully show up so infrequently.

This idea holds the promise of satisfying guys like you that want the role play version, satisfying guys like me that have no interest in it and hopefully selling more copies. Great news to be sure!

I also suggest improvements to the commentary. Though it's much better now than it used to be, I'd like to see fewer lengthy descriptions of the action and more "Ali lands a nice jab" type statements. |
