Auto-Face Released!

I am proud to announce the release of Anderson Utilities AutoFace!

What is Auto-Face? It is a collection of thousand of real players photos and 25,000 photos of real photos of minor league players and 600 Japan players. The program looks through your league and finds any existing matches and copies them over to your league folder. It then, optionally, grabs a random photo from the other collection and copies it over. It will also use the Japan collection if your player is from Japan.

It takes a few minutes to do a league with 10,000 players, but after you run it, you have a face for every player in the league.

A couple of requirements:

1. You MUST have MS Framework 2.0 installed on your computer. If your Windows is updated, you should already have it. If not, there is a link on the download page.

2. You MUST download the large collection of photos at

http://www.sim2005.com/photos.zip

This is a very large file, a couple hundred meg in size.

Please read the documentation file located at

http://www.sim2005.com/autoface.htm

for instructions on how to install the photos and how to use the program.

AFTER you install the photos, just go to http://www.sim2005.com/AutoFace/publish.htm to launch the program.

Please leave me feed back on what you think of the program and how it works for you and of course, how to improve it.

Larry

This seriously is awesome work. I've just started a fictional league and this will be absolutely awesome.

Larry, I thought you should know that when you go to file open the path for the saved games directory is incorrect.

The path should be C:\program files\sports interactive\ootp baseball 2006\data\saved_games

The directory you have specified in your program is C:\program files\sports interactive\ootp baseball 2006data\saved_games

So what I had to do temporarily was rename my ootp baseball 2006 folder to ootp baseball 2006data\ and then i copied my saved_games folder to my ootp baseball 2006data\ folder

The program worked great after I made these few changes and I just renamed everything back and copied my saved_games folder back to its original location and all photos were in the game.

I hope this helps you and anyone else who might be having problems. Again, this is some really great work. Very appreciated.

Are you using Firefox? You MUST use IE in order for this version of the program to work.

Future versions will not require IE.

This is interesting. The information is taken from the registry. When you launched the program for the first time, was there anything in the window that showed the league path?

Note: I had a couple minor issues with the Japan people.

1. I had forgot to resize the photos. While it works, the photos are too large and scrunch of the text in the game. This is JUST for the Japan people.

2. I had a small logic problem that was not doing the Japan people correctly.

I have uploaded www.sim2005.com/98.zip Download this and replace the files in the 98 folder with these files.

I uploaded the new photo.zip around 5am EST.

I also added some code to show how many files were copied over when it completes the operation,

Thanks. This is a fantastic utility.

I note that the photos are league-specific: /data/saved_games/[league].lg/news/html/images, which is fine.

I have previously asked on the boards what the data/photos folder is for - I haven't checked since patch 2, but photos placed there manually did get shown on player profile pages, but not on the various html (SION) pages. Do you know why it is structured that way? It seems to me that it would be useful to have a big main database of (historical) photos in data/photos that was available to all leagues and then have (fictional) add in photos in each league file.

EDIT: Looks like they fixed the directories up:

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...92#post1777192

You may need to take this into account in your next release - look in data/photos first then /data/saved_games/[league].lg/news/html/images and if no photo then copy photo to /data/saved_games/[league].lg/news/html/images.

What is the source of the original year-by-year photos - is it Wrightwings?

I have added a new option to delete retired players photos from the league, with the option of leaving the HOF guys photos there.

Yes, I did use WrightWings fine collection (with his permission of course).

No it was completely blank. I just ran the program again today and I'm seeing the same path. I probably should have mentioned that I have ootp 2006 installed on my D drive as opposed to my C drive which is were the AU2006 folder is located. That might have something to do with it.

It's really weird and it must be something on my end if no one else is having the same issue. I'm just glad it works though.

Wow! That was simly amazing! Great, great work!

Good instructions, simple to use, and quick too. I was relieved that you can re-run with an earlier year, and add real photos if you didn't go far enough back the first time, and it'll update the fake pictures with real ones.

Very, very impressive. Can't wait to see the rest of your utilities!

I'm still wrapping my head around what your program does and what all I will do with it, but I'll go ahead and say this: well done. Great idea for a project and it looks like you've followed through on it quite well. Thumbs up!

I had a problem when I extracted and unzipped it wrong, and didn't create the Photos subfolder. Do you have the CD\AU2006\Photos with all the subdirectories underneath?

I will add two options tonight.

1. A way to override the AU2006.ini file. This should solve your problem Kane.
2. A check to see if the photos are set up properly.

I am working on a trade reporter now.

Kane, the problem is that your registry entry does not have an ending backslash. I now have my program check for that and if it does not it adds one. (Not to the registry entry).

Let me know if this solves your little problem.

I also added a folder check to make sure you have the photos folders set up properly.
