What a way to start a season! (unbelievable pitching streak)

Ok I just began a fictional league that will go through the eras (many thanks to Jermanfu's for his era settings and everyone else's help in setting it up) and in the second season I just saw the most amazing streak of pitching ever and figured I would share it. Enjoy!

-1st Game: In the year 1901, Robert Routt of the San Francisco Giants began the season with a No-hitter against the Philladelphia Phillies. In this game he pitched 9 innings, 0 hits, 0 bb's, 10 ks' and threw only 73 pitches. The only thing keeping this from a Perfect game was that in the third inning he hit a batter.

-2nd Game: In his next start, 4 days later due to an off-day, he throws ANOTHER No-hitter against the Atlanta Braves. This game he goes 9 innings, 0 hits, 2 walks, 7 k's and amazingly threw only 65 pitches. So that's consecutive no hitters to start the season! His third game is not a no-hitter but his amazing pitching streak continues...

-3rd Game: In his next start, again 4 days later due to an off-day, he goes hitless for 3.1 innings bringing his hitless streak to an amazing 21.1 innings to start the year! This game is nothing to be ashamed of being a shutout, going 9 innings, 3 hits, 3 walks, 3k's. (Note I didn't save boxscores of the last season to see how long the streak may have went from last year, though it would only add a few more innings at most).

-4th Game: In his next start he goes 9 innings allowing his first run of the year in the 4th bringing his scoreless inning streak to a halt at 31.1 innings. However this is the only run allowed and he wins the game going all 9 innings, allowing only 4 hits, 1 er, 3 walks, 9 k's.

-5th Game: In his next start he wins his 5th in a row going 9 innings allowing one *unearned run* on an error, allowing only 3 hits, 1 run, 0 er, 0 bb's, 9ks.

-6th Game: In his next start he pitches 13 innings of shut out ball before being pulled after throwing 141 pitches. In that time he allowed only 6 hits, 0 runs, 2 bb', 8 k's bringing his era to a microscopic 0.16!

In his 7th and 8th games he finally implodes and ends the streak but what a run! In total, over the 6 games, his stats were:
5-0, 45 ip, 16 hits, 2 runs, 1 er, 10 bb's, 47 k's, 0.16 era!
2 consecutive no hitters,21.1 consecutive hitless inning streak and 31.1 consecutive innings without a run.

I don't have a calculator on me to figure out the batting average but it must be microscopic as well. And in case you were wondering about his ratings or stats... Last year he was 22-16, 352 ip, 278 HA, 174 ks, .218 avg, 2.35 era while this year is only a month in. His ratings using the editor turned on were 9 era, 8/6/7/7/10 so he is a dominant pitcher but I am still surprised to see a streak like this.

Hmm should I have put this in the Dynasty section? It is not a report I plan to update as the streak ended and it is not about a team-dynasty so I wasn't sure....

Also clearly this is an a-historical league as I am sure some of those teams above weren't around in 1901. If anyone cares I used Jermanfu's league totals from his guide for the deadball era with a 24 team league of my favourite ML cities (no Colorado, Florida, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Tampa Bay or Arizona) that will not change throughout history. There will be no expansion and I am using the modern parks.

I am not sure if any of these things may have influenced the streak it was still the most amazing thing I have ever seen in this game. With these two no hitters being half the total ever thrown (4) it is still a fine accomplishment even if I have some how affected things.

Either way, that's very impressive. I must say I've never had something like that. Wow.

His next two games he has allowed 11 runs in 12 innings, completely imploding. He then had a shutout again in his 9th game. Seems like he is either completely dominant or gets rocked.

I love this sort of thing!

I've had excellent long pitcheing streaks, like a 64 inning streak where Pedro Martinez gave up one run (42 consecutive scoreless), but nothing like that to start a season.

Haha I love your signature ATypicalGiants fan. Great quotes there.

This pitcher isn't on my team (Toronto), I only noticed he did this after I was reading the news section and noticed the first two posts of the year were no-hitters and then noticed it was by the same guy! Then I did a little investigation and went over the game logs and was amazed.

Trust me. These stories seem even better when you notice them happening on your own team. Like my pedro streak, it was amazing.
