What is the developmental stage when a playable version is released? Seems like this game has undergone numerous stages already.

From over at Matrix Games~

Quote:
We are in the home stretch, no question about it, but we are not going to make it before the weekend. Keep an eye out for a gone gold press release and it shouldn't be more than a week after that. Given the way things are going, I would say a February release is certain and likely to be by mid-February.

Regards,

- Erik

I cannot say much but.........this game will disappoint many...many of you. I'm sure most of you here will say "ya, how do you know" - well that I cannot say because it may get me in trouble but do not expect a lot of this game. Just a heads-up. I would guess that most will be very disappointed.

There seems to be quite a bit of skepticism about this game, but I wonder how can the naysayers be so sure before the game is even released? I know it seemed like an eternity for the release, but maybe that means it has been carefully put together and will delight the PC sports simulation nuts like me who yearn for a game that provides both strategy and graphics at the same time. Let's give the game a chance.

Waiting for a Cub pennant and Maximum Football , Echolodge

Did you ever think that maybe some of the naysayers are beta-testers?

Could you be a little more clear? I'm not following you.

Well that changes my level of optimism; however, after those who actually buy the final product and play it give their opinions on the strengths and weaknesses, I'll make a decision on wether to buy it or not.

p.s. There's always EA's NFL Headcoach to look forward to as well, not to mention Baseball Manager 2006!

p.s.s. I actually wanted to quote your earlier post about being a naysayer who knows beta testers.

FOF looked better than Maximum Football before and it still looks better.

This game will suck. Mark my words.

The one I'm waiting to see come out is Division Rivals.

FOF lacks the graphics that Maximum Football promises. It may be superior in the GM and dynasty areas.

Can you give us more info on Division Rivals?

Yes, its Max FB five years earlier in development.

To the ones who defend MF;

Boy, I'll tell you what. You go ahead and purchase MF and install the game with glee but like the old saying goes when you come back here whining about the game I'll have to laugh "I told you so". The best of luck to ya. LOL!

It's high school-college-pro in one game and you can be either player or coach at any of the three levels or work your way up.

Awards and statistics can affect your scholarship possibilities and draft position if you're going the player route of high school through college.

Their forums have apparently been taken down recently and will reopen once the demo is ready. You can still contact the developers via email however.

Yes, because massively delayed games are ALWAYS classics. After all, look at Daikatana...

If they go CD only, they've lost a potential sale here. I don't buy games on CD anymore, due to the continuing and increasing invasiveness of the copy protection.

MF will be available both digital and as CD.

If the game will disapoint you or not depends on your expectations. But you have to consider that David Winter has often spoken about what is possible and what not for the first version.

I have read some rumors based on "information of beta testers" but these rumors are false.

sure go ahead Tullius and tell the people that what I said was false and when the buy the game I'll let them all decide if you led them to believe a lie. MF is NO WHERE near ready for a release. The collision model is terrible, stat tracking is minimal at best....the list can go on and on........

that is all I'm going to say about this. For the rest of you, don't let the pretty picture painted by MF advocates blur what the game is really about or how it will peform and/or look. I mean, the stats in the game cannot even be sortble in it's own colmuns. Oh well......
