This Game Is Great
My White Sox went into a pretty horrible funk in June, at one point losing 11 of 14 games, but have since rebounded to a 10-13 mark by 6/25. One would think they would take a pretty serious hit in the standings with a stretch like that, but luckily first place Minnesota went into one even worse. The Twins have currently lost 12 games in a row, finishing up a weekend series sweep at the hands of the Cubs. But what's becoming so amazing is how the Twins are losing some of these games. On Fri, 6/23, the Twins were leading 2-0 before the Cubs put up one run in the 8th and then homered twice off of Joe Nathan in the 9th, pegging him with the 3-2 loss. On Sat, the Twins came back late to the tie the game but lost in the 11th when Joe Nathan gave up another HR, his fourth in his last four outings. He's now dropped his last four decisions and has blown three consecutive save chances. But the real shocker is how they blew it on Sun. Going into the top of the 9th with an 8-4 lead, the Twins must have felt like they were about to end this terrible losing streak. But the Cubs exploded for 7 runs to win it 11-8. Despite my terrible run, I've actually gained 2.5 games on first place, now just 1.5 out. Meanwhile, they have fallen to second and Detroit has taken over the lead. I love being able to reproduce this past summer's pennant race. Good job, OOTP.
