He is no Frank Thomas...but he still has some hits left. Wonder waht A's fans think.

Just saw the deal was for 8.5 mill

Not bad as a stopgap until Daric Barton is ready in the 08 season.

Hell, Piazza may even be better than Thomas this year, with Big Frank trying to run on that turf in Toronto.

I like this deal for the As. With the market being what is this offseason this could turn out to be one of the bargins.

You may regret it even more if he flourishes with the bat in 2007, not having to catch any more at his age. Should be interesting to watch.

Never really a Piazza fan, but I like the move. I didn't dislike him for any actual reason, just not a guy I rooted for. Now I will. I was surprised to see how productive he was last year in San Diego. I expect him to be at least that good in Oakland, if not moreso with no worries about catching.

I think he might return to being a top catcher fantasy wise. With the stress of catching everyday taken away, he should flourish.
