Eagles lose another game in which they totally dominated
The Eagles are now 4-3 despite dominating 6 of their 7 opponents and leading the other by 7 going into the 4th quarter.
How did they do it this time? Oh just your everyday "walkoff" 62 yard FG from the opposing kicker. |

Its hard to win an NFL game while throwing 3 INTs

It's also hard to lose when you gain over 500 yards of offense and hold the opponent to under 200.
As bad as McNabb was the first 2 and a half quarters, this one AGAIN goes on the defense. For the 2nd straight week the defense needed to make just ONE stop to preserve a lead and couldn't do so. |

Now that's funny. I didn't think they had any business pulling ahead at the end of the game; it's just justice that they gave the lead right back. The Eagles have been playing sloppy for a long time now. No one should be surprised that it cost them another game.

The game today was as statistically lopsided as the OSU/Indiana game was yesterday for christ's sake. Tampa got flat out dominated and the Eagles handed it over on a silver platter. 17 of their 20 points were gifts, 2 pick 6's and a 30 yard penalty by another idiot from "Da U". No reason for them to lose today, PERIOD. A couple boneheaded plays by the players and a couple more boneheaded calls by the coach (which is becoming the standard for Andy Reid). |

So do you place it on Reid's head, or the def coordinator's? I mean they call the plays, but the players have to make the stops on D. I missed the game, I got the Steelers/Falcons scoreathon today.

You can't blame the Eagles' defense for this at all. They only allowed nine points, after all. They lost because Ronde Barber returned two interceptions for touchdowns. Whether you want to blame McNabb, the offensive playcalling, or Ronde Barber for that, I don't know. But it sure ain't the defense's fault.

Equal blame to be placed today. McNabb was the equivalent of a pitcher giving up 3 hits and striking out 12 but letting those 3 hits be homeruns. Reid had another meltdown in game management and D AGAIN couldn't get a key stop. Lots of blame to be thrown around. I place more on the D and Reid because this has been the norm from them for the last 2-3 years, McNabb on the other hand doesn't have games like this very often at all. |

Not true. The defense for the 2nd straight week needed to make a stop or 2 in the 2nd half of a football game and couldn't do it. These long drives they are letting the opposing offenses put together in crunch time are killing them. |

Sorry, but if you lose you didn't dominate. The goal is to score the most points. If the other team scores more, you dominated nothing.
This is one of those sports cliches that makes me want to throw a brick through my TV. GH |

It's not a cliche, final scores are very deceiving. Believe what you want, but the team that plays the best doesn't always win.

'til your heart is content, the fact is the object of the game is to score the most points. Not get the most yards, not the most first downs, not the best turnover ratio. The goal is to outscore the opponent. If you fail in your goal, you didn't dominate. GH |

That's a fact huh? Do you always feel the need to chime in with sarcastic remarks over semantics? Tampa Bay was outplayed today, period. If you don't like my choice of words then that's too bad but the Eagles were the better team today and lost, end of story. |

It's not a matter of semantics, it's a matter of disagreeing with the point (as happens on a discussion board, so I'm told). Saying "period" and "end of story" doesn't substantiate a flawed point. The goal is to score more points. Tampa Bay scored more. They accomplished their goal, the Eagles did not. I tend to think that given two choices, the one that accomplishes what they set out to do when the game began did a better job than the one that fails. GH |

Alrighty, no team has ever won a game in which they were outplayed, I got it now. And you're right it's a discussion board, not a "post smartass one liners" board. |
