Glad it happened, enjoyed it, but it's done. Only concern now is my team.

Just proves that having the best player at every position doesn't equate to winning all the time.

Shouldn't this poll be renamed "Who here has a pulse?"

There were no "playoffs" before 1969, catfood. Unless you count the World Series itself, in which case NYY did lose it in several of the years you mention, before and after '69.

Those were all years that they won their league.

When Yankee fans have to stoop to these kind of semantic tricks you know its over for them. The Yankees are bad for baseball anyway.

The Yankees are bad for baseball? Really? How so? Would you rather 30 owners like KC's who pockets all of his profits? Say what you want about Georgie poo, but at least he's willing to invest in his team to put a winner on the field.

When the Blue Jays complain that they have no weekend games vs the Yankees because they always sell out, how exactly are they bad for baseball? When the Twins offer specials on all games except for when the Yankees and Red Sox come to town, how are they bad for baseball?

I'd love to see someone put together average home attendance for the other AL teams, then compare that to the games when the Yankees are in town. Love em or hate em, they put people into the seats no matter where they go.

BTW -- I had to suffer through the 80s and I'm still a Yankee fan. It'll take a lot more than a string of losing in the playoffs/WS for it to be "over for me". I don't like this team nearly as much as I did the late 90s teams, but I still won't abandon them.

The Yankees are bad for baseball because they have a disproportionate share of baseball resources. This wouldnt necessarily be true if an owner had bought then in 2000 at a fair market value and had to make loan payments. Steinbrenner bought them for 10 mil. Most other owners in baseball in much smaller markets have to spend a nice chunk of their budgets on loan repayment. While this situation is great for the Yankees and their fans, its not good for the overall health of the game.

The Yankees also hog far too much media attention. How many times were the Tigers on ESPN? How many times the Yankees? How many segments on Sportscenter were dedicated to more Yankee crap? How many ESPN stories centered on the exciting young players in Arizona?

The 3 weekday Yankee playoff games started in primetime. None of the Twins v A's games got that spotlight making it hard for their working fans to see the games.

The Yankees are bad for baseball.

I don't really think they're bad for baseball. However, they haven't won a championship since 2000 and everyone still talks about them like they win it every year.

And the World Series are still part of the playoffs.
