Nippon League Roster Set

Well I've been working on this Japanese Roster set now for about 3 weeks and I'm finally about ready to release the first version. I'd actually like to consider it a beta because I plan on doing a lot more work on it.

So far, what I have included is....

-Correct Rosters for all 12 Nippon League teams
-All players with correct vitals/info/salary
-All players ratings proportionate to the major league level (not to their statistical output in ***) for more info
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...d.php?t=121966
-Correct team info, stable financial system, logos, color schemes, stadium info, ballpark factors*
-Correct league rules/options/equivalencies

So far, what is NOT included...
-Historical stats - unfortuanately there is no working database with *** info so all players start with no past stats
-Player Photos - This is something that will be done for future releases but I didn't think it was vital to include this for the first release/beta. If anyone wants to help out to get these pics, contact me.
-NiGun league (AAA) players are fictional for this release. I plan on doing at least 15 real players per team in a future update. Hopefully to include some marginal parent leaguers and some top prospects

*I looked far and wide and could not find correct ballpark factors so what I did was base them off of dimensions (it's better than nothing and better than having it random or keepting them all neutral). To keep my method simple, if a park has fences farther than normal, the HR factor will be lower, but the 3B and 2B factor will be greater.

I created this set to go along with bigger universes such as Rolen/Cubby's. That way you will have more Ichiro's going to MLB and more Tuffy Rhodes going to ***, etc. And also to give you the added option if you are struggling as a GM in MLB, you can go to Japan and become a GM there with real rosters.

But with that said, the quickstart I will release only includes the *** and it's AAA nigun league. There are no other leagues included b/c as i stated in the paragraph above, it's more intended to go along with a MLB universe. But that doesn't mean it wont' work as an Independant Japanese Roster set.

Once there are MLB roster sets completed, I will import my set into their universe (with their permission)

If you have any questions/comments/remarks please feel free to post them. I should have this done in the next couple of days at the latest

Get ahold of me on AIM at NIBABaseball -- would like to chat about making this a part of the planned larger universe down the line.

No problem, it's been a lot of fun and I've learned a ton about Japanese Baseball along the way. Right now, I'm in the testing stages, just simming and tweaking. Hopefully tommorrow afternoon/night I'll have the first release done

DRays,

There is a historical *** database (up to 2004) in Lahman 5.2 format here. You can't use it to import directly into the game since it doesn't have a teams.csv file (and there may be other reasons). I've tried making a teams.csv to get it to work, but haven't had any success. If anyone knows what's necessary to import from a Lahman DB to OOTP and can change this (or other existing DBs) to that format, then you may be able to get historical stats in the game.

I've messed around with it a little bit, but couldn't get it to work

I've finished what I think is a pretty good first version. It's definately playable, but know that this project is not finished and will improve.

I'd like for it to be as accurate as possible, so please let me know if you see any errors or thing something should change and we'll discuss it.

I know a lot of people don't like to register for a download, so I sent the file to www.ootpmodsquad.com, but it doesn't get uploaded automatically. If you want the file now, it's available here
http://www.theperfectgame.net/forums...p?download=165

Just remember that these ratings are based on the MLB level and not their stats in ***. So if you think that everyone's ratings are too low, please take that into consideration.

I hope everyone who try's this out enjoys it, take care

The one I downloaded from the perfect game doesn't seem to work...it starts to create a league and gives a message saying that I should add a GM, but the database never loads. FYI, I'm using the patched (1.0.1) version. Look forward to testing this.

Interesting, it works for me. Did anyone else have a problem with it?

Works now. My bad...I forgot to take it out of the zipped folder...if you don't do that, it starts to load but then is unsuccessful.

I apologize for not putting in a readme file. I finished it at work last night right before I went to bed (yes, i sleep at work). Basically, what you have to do is unzip the folder into the data/quickstart_games folder. Then all you have to do is start a quickstart in the OOTP 2006 main menu.

ah so! thx, worked well. nice job, btw. i think the only thing i had to add was rakuten's home city (sendai).

ive been tinkering with my own japanese lahman db since i want to start earlier in history (1980's maybe) but im having all sorts of problems getting the game to import from the lahman style db. thats where i get that 'historical import failed' error message; strangely enough, i can import individual players. it seems like theres something in the master file that the game doesnt like but i cant figure it out for the life of me.

if you used that lahman db referenced earlier in the thread to set things up, perhaps you can shed some light on how you got it to work

I didn't get it to work. I had to create all 300 players individually

About the Golden Eagles home team name. I left a lot of the team's home cities out and used what seems to be the most common usage of the names
