2006 New York Mets

Nice Opening Day win. Nady goes 4 for 4, Wright homers, Anderson Hernandez with a play at 2nd Matsui NEVER would have made. Glavine gives a gutty effort, Heilman works through trouble and Wagner closes it out.

Strange game though. Home plate ump was shaky all day with the strike zone, and key play in the game is a blown call at the plate. With the Mets up 3-2, Soriano tries to score from first on a double with nobody out. Nice relay from Floyd to Reyes to LoDuca, but LoDuca drops the ball. His back was to the ump and LoDuca's hand landed right on the ball as he fell. Alertly, he held it up and Soriano is called out.

Smart play by LoDuca, but poor job by the ump, as well as whoever was on deck for the Nationals. Beltran makes a nice play in the 9th to throw out Vidro going for 2 to end it.

Good to start with a win. Off day tomorrow with the rookie Bannister to go Wednesday and Pedro to take the hill Thursday.

Smart play by LoDuca
Cheating in baseball is destroying the game.

You wouldn't have commented if it were Charles Johnson

Mets will have to have an asterisk by this win.

Interesting that it weighs on you who I root for. I, on the other hand, couldn't care any less about you. Guess that tells you all you need to know about our dealings.

Now run along, Sparky. You're out of your depth here.

Please, if you're going to make no sense, can you at least do so with some degree of literacy?

This is ridiculous. I'm not really a Mets fan but I would like a place to discuss them without having to wade through this crap.

I agree with QuestGav, but.. this amused me. =)

On topic.. I'm changing my ways and being completely optimistic about this season, and the first game. I'm thinking that the blown call at the plate is a good omen, and a sign of things to come. Yep, the luck is going the way of the Mets!
