Rookie league team with only 10 players?

I just finally got my game set up how I wanted. It is a 40 team league with full minors and no other leagues. I just got through spring training and had a jackass who was terrible, yet refused to be demoted, so I found a guy on the waiver wire and put a claim in. I got him on April 1, and went to release the jackass. The game crashed.

So I load it up again, I save every day BTW, so I am able to release the jackass and place my new guy in his spot on the 40 man and try to get to the next day (I meant to play out my first game but forgot, too worried about this) and while it simmed the games, it would not let me get past as one of the rookie league league teams only has 10 players on it.

I have well over 2,000 free agents sitting there doing nothing.

I am not playing in commisioner mode so I don't think that there is anything that I can do.

Please help.

Also, I am using the newest patch and playing on a brand new lap top that I basically bought for this game. AMD Turion, 80GB hard drive, 1024mb system memory, 1.8GHz, 512KB L2 cache.

Have I stumped people or am I missing a solution that was posted elsewhere. (I didn't find anything on search)

Sometimes the game gets screwy, it's a known issue... don't know anymore than that.
You need to create another human manager and make him commissioner, (I hope you can create a commish even if you didn't create one at startup, I don't know though) assign one of the free agents to that team, and you can continue past.
Once you've assigned the guy you can switch back to the non-comish human manager and pretend you didn't do anything. If you can't create a commish... then, as far as I know, you're screwed.

Did you create this league from scratch with the latest patch?

As the other user suggested, the best thing to do is if you do come across this is to create a commissioner. Instead of adding one player, go to the team page and go to the roster page of the team that has a short roster . On the bottom you will see an Action Button. Click it and select "Fill Team w/Fictional Players".
