aging

I know Markus said that in the patch aging and development will be tweaked...I'm wondering if anyone has seen how well this is working?

I'm not sure if I should leave aging and development how I have it, or return everything back to 1.00. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I quick simmed a historical league at the default settings and it's definitely improved. Nothing scientific, just took a quick look.

Did you have aging and development set back at 1.000, as Mattymo mentioned?

I might as well ask this here, but what modifier should I use for a semi-pro league I made in which players can have super long careers and play in the league very young or very old (so a player can have careers from 16 years old to 45-50 or so regularly)?

I don't know exactly...but you'd definitely want to have development high and aging really low, but I really couldn't give you numbers and think I'd be correct.

I'm afraid the ball is still going to be up in the air on this, at least for a while. The patch released yesterday only re-establishes 1.000 as the 20th-21st century norm for these variables (we hope). One thing I can tell you; you would have to set aging at <1.000 according to this from the game guide:

"Pitcher Aging Speed
This modifier affects the speed with which players lose their pitching skills as they age. The lower this modifier is set, the more slowly players will lose their skills as they age. So, a modifier of.500 would result in players maintaining their pitching skills much later in their careers. A modifier of 1.500 would cause players’ pitching skills to drop much earlier in their careers."

And you would have to go the other way with development:

"Pitcher Dev. Speed
This modifier affects the speed with which players’ pitching skills develop. The
lower this modifier is set, the more slowly players will develop their pitching skills.
So, a modifier of.500 would result in players developing pitching skills much more
slowly. A modifier of 1.500 would cause players to develop pitching skills much
more quickly."

You should test these settings in your league, simming 10-20 years or so, and without signing on as a GM so that you are not interrupted by messages. Note the results, tweak, and sim again until you get the results that you want. Then start the league for real.
