40-team league fails in free agency period
I've recently tried to create a 40-team league in an attempt to mimic minor league baseball. While slow, everything ran pretty well until the end of the season. When I got to the free agent period, I sent in my bids, but when I tried to continue the game had some kind of error (I can't remember if it locked up or gave me a message then kicked me out).
Anyway, is there some kind of known bug with such a large league, or was I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated. If you need me to recreate the error, I will try tonight. I haven't tried this league with the new patch. |

Not sure, I've never tried a league that large but quite possible.

How large a league can OOTP4 handles safely? Can I do 36 teams? Does it makes sense that a 40-team league would have trouble? Could it be that the game didn't generate enough players for each team or something?
Sorry, lots of questions. Jared |

I know that there are some 36 team leagues and have not heard of any problems, one of the issues that you could be running into is the amount of data and info that is processed for 40 teams.

Thanks for your info. The data thing makes sense. I'll scale back to 36.
Thanks. |

I'm not certain that is the issue, but especially if you have a slower machine or less ram that it can be quite taxing on system. Maybe someone who has either tried or had success with a 40 team league could comment.

I'd like to run as big a league as is still reasonable because there are so many good minor league teams and so many leagues! I'd really like to include a good sampling. The 40-team league really had a good set.
I would appreciate anyone's comments on how large a league they've run. I don't think my machine is slower than average, but it's no spring chicken anymore either. |
