First 50 years are done!
Using 6.51 and doing a historical replay...just finished 1950 last night...only another 1/2 century to go...I'll post some interesting stats later.

guess I should give some info...
I'm using the ARod23/Garlon 2006 DB....the one with 50 negro league players in it...so my historical replay is not entirely accurate obviously.. I started in 1901...there is free agency right from the start... Rookies are not put on original teams...there is a draft I finished a few more seasons last night, I will be expanding as real baseball did and I plan to run this league right through 2006 or more...maybe with fictional rookies at that point. Satchel Paige turned out to be a complete stud, as he probably would have if he'd been allowed to play. Babe Ruth was the greatest slugger of the first half of the century and George Ruth the pitcher also became a hall of famer (373 wins...no tweaking) Just for the record, Joe Page hurled his 2nd career no-hitter in 1953, though he is mostly a .500 pitcher. One cool thing...in 1904 Mike Lynch tossed 2 no-hitters....basically 1 month apart...pretty cool. Satchel Paige had 3 no-hitters and Bob Feller currently has 2...Feller is the best pitcher of the 1940's into the early 50's, though injuries have cost him some games...but he did pass 300 wins in 1952...

Great information! Did you edit any of the rookies before the draft or did you just take them as they imported?

virtually no editing has been done, I can't begine to tell you how well this database is put together...its really done right.
the only editing I did was minor tweaking if certain careers were not really developing and even then, less than 10 times... I can't wait to see now the 60's and 70's play out. As the 50's are rolling now...Duke Snider, Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays are starting to take over the torch being passed to them as the young superstars... Actually Mantle had a killer rookie season but had a big sophomore jinx, though his ratings remained about the same...

if anyone has questions about specific performances, I'll be happy to answer, and I'll update the league here every 10 seasons or so...maybe 15...

Ty Cobb played from 1906-1926, starting his career with Pittsburgh. In his 21 seasons he stroked 3413 hits and a .320 Batting Avg. (3613 for 10682)
He scored 1816 runs, 1698 Rbi, 684 Doubles and 230 Triples. He stole 544 bases and had a career OPS of .850. Cobb was a 13 time all-star and won 5 batting crowns including a .390 mark in his rookie season. He was the Top-Flight Rookie and Most Valuable Hitter that season. Cobb would win another 6 Most Valuable Hitter awards in his career for an incredible total of 7 awards. Cobb appeared in 6 World Series, his team winning 3 times. Cobb's postseason stats include a .354 avg and a .916 OPS. Thru 1956 Cobb now stands 3rd on the alltime hit list behind Hal Trosky and Rogers Hornsby. He is 2nd alltime in doubles and triples and he is 9th in Rbi and 10th in runs scored. His Stolen base total is currently 7th alltime. Cobb may not have been the greatest hitter in league history but he was rather dominating in his time.

Some updates after the 1956 season.
Hal Trosky moved passed Rogers Hornsby as the alltime hits leader, he now has 3834 hits and is still active. He is also 5th on the alltime HR list with 511. Trosky has also eclipsed Babe Ruth as the alltime RBI leader, he now has 2131 RBI and he's also #1 in history for Doubles with 766, in fact he's the only player in league history who's gone over 700 doubles. Ted Williams is now the Alltime HR leader and the first player over 600 in league history and is knocking on the door of 700...he currently stands at 681 homers...(its amazing how not missing 5 1/2 seasons due to WWII and Korea raised his numbers.) He also has a real good chance of passing Babe Ruth as the alltime Walk leader soon too. Bob Feller has become the 2nd pitcher in history to pass 5000 strikeouts and is rapidly gaining on leader Satchel Paige. (again, not missing years to war...Feller and Williams probably lost the most in real life) Feller has also passed Satchel Paige as the alltime Wins leader, he now has 433 wins and is still pitching in 1957. He also has 78 career shutouts, #1 in that category. Hal Newhouser has passed the coveted 3000 strikeout mark and is only 7 wins away from 300, can he make it? Stay tuned.
