Have "missing plays" from 6.5 been added to V2006?

Play-by-play text is not important to many of you, but it is important to me.

Since I play out a lot of my games, I want all of the basic plays of baseball in the game.

I have only played about a dozen games in V2006 (in the quick result mode) and have not seen any of the new play results that were supposed to be added.

Has anyone seen LF or RF...SS or 2B...catch a foul ball?

Has anyone seen a dropped throw by infielders or catchers?

Has anyone seen a dropped infield fly?

Has anyone seen a dropped foul fly for an error?
(this may have been in 6.5)

Has anyone seen a "strike out/throw 'em out" double play?

Has anyone seen anyone steal home?
(Sorry, haven't taken the time to play a game out pitch-by-pitch)

Has the frequency been increased, so that a player is thrown out more often trying to stretch a single to a double? It rarely happened in previous versions (I have only seen it twice since OOTP3)...and I have not seen it in dozen games so far.

Has the frequency been increased, so that you get more double plays at home plate? (1-2-3 DP, 5-2-3 DP, 6-2-3 DP, 4-2-3 DP, 3-2-3 DP). It rarely happened in previous versions.

I had a runner get hit by a groundball, which resulted in the runner being out. Had not seen that in a previous version.

I had a strike em out throw em out DP last night.

I'm also fairly certain I have seen a 1B drop a throw from an IF for an error as well as my RF dropping a foul ball for an error. I say fairly certain due to the fact that is what I believed I read in the PbP but I had hit a key out of force of habit which caused it to go away.

I know I have not seen a drop on a pop up in the IF.

Another I would like to see would be some kind of base runner being stuck in a run down.

I have never seen a baserunner attempting to steal home (on the other hand...I have never seen it in real life outside of sports center or in the movies).

I'm not sure if the frequency of runners thrown out on a baserunner trying to strech a single to a double. I've seen about 2 in the 100 or so games I have played out.

I haven't seen most of these. I saw a 1B drop a throw for an error, and 2B drop a throw on a double play. I have only saw one 1-2-3 DP, but no other DP's involving home plate.

I did see my first steal of home tonight(successful too), and was so surprised I did a triple take.

I've yet to see a runner thrown out at second stretching a single to a double though, and I've played out between 50-75 games.

Which reminds me. We don't have the Replay PBP in 2006, do we?

Thanks, guys.

There has been a little progress, but not what I was expecting.

I thought all of them would be in V2006.

No. It's one of those thing that should be there.

Personally, I'd settle for being able to scroll the through the pbp all the way back to the beginning of the game.

I play out a LOT of games, and here's what I've seen so far (going off of memory):

Dropped throws, dropped foul fly, double plays at home with the bases loaded, still infrequent, but occasional throwing out stretching into a double. I've tried to steal home on occasion. It's worked three times.

I've seen a few well timed squeeze plays which I didn't see much of in 6.5.

Have you checked the PbP file to see if those outcomes are in there?

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was not aware that you could access it.

Sorry, I am computer-challenged...I can only do something when I have good, detailed instructions. I have absolutely no computer intuition.

I'll check the game folder and see if I can access the PBP text.

Thanks to MidKnight and Simmo13.

Appreciate the info.

I am going to play out 20 games and see what shows up. All of the events I listed should show up over that many games...except for the steal of home.

The others are just basic, everyday plays.

Hope they are there.

I know Markus' heart is in the right place and he and SI are working very hard, day and night to get the game right. I just hope they can understand my viewpoint.

I have been asking for these since OOTP3...and have been waiting since OOTP3.

I get my hopes built up with each new version and then am disappointed.

I really expected this version to be the "baseball game of all baseball games".

Markus even posted that all the basic plays would be in V2006.

He has always been good on his word.

But it looks like we are back at OOTP1 again with the new rewrite. Play-by-play doesn't seem to have a high priority with him. OOTPB seems to be for the stats freaks and simmers, not the guys that play out games. This despite polls that show about 40% play out their games wholly or partially.

There is much improvement in PBP-text and News in V2006. However, new stories don't seem to have much priority either. In 6.5 "pitcher quiets Cards" was used every 5 shutouts. They get stale in a hurry. I realize you have to repeat stories in a text game and that you can never have enough, but some effort should be made to get a reasonable number of items in each category. 5 options is certainly not enough. At last count there were only 12 shutout announcements in V2006. I think there are about 253 shutouts a year in MLB. And 200 would not be enough in V2006 when it is possible to have 25 leagues. But at least 200 would be a start.

There is no coverage of playoffs or postseason.

My patience has run out. I don't want to wait until OOTPB2012 to get basic plays and more variety in PBP and New Stories. They should have been in OOTP1...OOTP3...and definitely in V2006, "the baseball game of all baseball games".

Eugene, calm down you'll give yourself a hernia

I'd like to work on this for you, if you can play out 20 games and provide me feedback I'll get the PbP guys to dig a bit deeper into this.

I think only one of the plays you listed is not part of the file (not 100% on that without fully checking).

I await further command.

Mark, thanks for the reply. It is good to know that you, Markus and SI are listening.

I am not upset...just depressed. I love this game and just don't enjoy it anymore. I have spent the last two years getting my Baseball universe ready for V2006...see my Ruthlandian-Tycobbian Dynasty Report and you will see how much time I have spent on it. And so far, I can't begin. I will have to wait for 3-4 patches and even then I may not get to use my custom logos and stadiums, if the graphics are not fixed to accommodate them.

I am trying to snap out of it. That is why I am going to play out 20 games and just see what is there. I will conquer the new interface, too.

I will keep detailed notes and give it to the PBP team.

Please work on the graphics, too. They apparently could stand a lot of improvement.

But please understand, this is OOTP7 and it still apparently doesn't have all of the basic plays of baseball in it and some of them at the right frequency.

I have been waiting "patiently" since OOTP3. I just don't think I want to wait anymore.

Anybody know a good surgeon...I think I have a hernia.

You think I could sue SI?

Marc, my attorneys, Dewey, Cheatum and Howe will soon be in contact.

Here's a couple I've seen Eugene, runner beating the throw to third on a force play (sac bunt), SS throwing error to 2b on a DP ball.
