Question Advice about a questionable trade

Our league using Cubbyfan's rosters in 2006 has just opening we are in the preseason, and are using it as a trade period...

We opened at like 9pm last night an by 11pm there was this deal...

"Astros Get:
3B David Wright
SP John Maine
IF Jose Valentin
OF Matt Benstead (Rookie Ball)

NY Mets Get:
SP Roy Oswalt
1B Lance Berkman
3B Morgan Ensberg
IF/OF Chris Burke"

The NL President is going absolutely nuts and wants a veto right now. We do not have a system in place to evaluate trades but last night when the rules and rosters were posted I added in that the rules are subject to change at any point within the first year to adjust for problems... I personally do not think this deal is anywhere near fair either, Wright is good... But 3 Studs and a decent player to get him?? Maine is a fringe-MLB spect, Valentin is washed up... and Benstead is a 21 in contact and 8 in power on a 1-100 scale so I have no clue why he is even in the deal.

My thinking was developing a system where the League Presidents watch moves in their own league, if they deem it unfair then they can ask the team in question for an exact explanation of why they made the deal and how it helps their team. Following that, me and the league presidents will discuss it, and either decide to allow it or send it to a league vote where 2/3 will be required to veto it.

Looking for what u think about this trade, and what you think about that system.

If your going to have trades vetoed then have a trade committee but make it a committee of 3 members as this would make a decision certain 2-1, 3-0 vote but no split vote, example would be you and one each from the AL and NL but don't have it as your league Presidents involve some other people in the running of the league as it keep's people involved.

You can have it either that the committee looks over all trades or you could have it were a GM pm's you and the committee looks over it, it would be up to you if the members of the committee were kept secret from other GM's so as to stop flame wars and bad blood but that would depend on how mature of a group of GM's you have.

Trade's should only be looked at if they effect the league in general ad not if they only effect one team as I believe a GM who lives by the sword should die by the sword, with experience a trade rule should have been in place before the league started as most bad blood and flame wars are started by trades.
