Lightbulb Suggestion Collection Thread: Online Leagues

I'm going to be posting a number of Suggestion Collection threads like this one, each one designed to collect a number of ideas for one specific area of the game. I'm going to compile these suggestions into some kind of helpful format, and see if this helps Marc and Markus. If necessary, I'll create polls later on to gauge the relative interest in different features.

However, if you want to join my thread, you need to follow my rules, and here they are:

1. Only 1 suggestion per post.
2. Suggestions must be on-topic for the thread.
3. Constructive, non-inflammatory suggestions only. I'm flat-out deleting posts that are angry in nature. If you want to do that, start your own thread.
4. No comments on others' suggestions necessary. That means, no posts saying "Great idea!"
5. No linking me to other forum threads. If it's important enough to you that you want it in this thread, then it should be important enough to put it in the format I've asked for here.
6. You can certainly post suggestions that conflict with or build upon earlier suggestions. You can also add screenshots of mockups and such if they help.

Format for Suggestions:
Suggestion: What is your suggestion? Be as specific as possible; include the screen you're talking about, if applicable.
Reason: Why do you think this is important?
Priority: High (MUST have), Medium (should have), Low (nice to have)

Thanks for participating!

Steve

Today's Topic: Online Leagues

What's In?
- Anything pertaining to the online league experience

What's Out?
- Functionality that would apply both to online and offline leagues

Suggestion: Free agent offer report
Reason: Allow teams to see who they have given offers to. Critical in managing your free agency period.
Priority: High

Suggestion: Personnel offer exporting
Reason: Allow exporting of personnel offers in the same style as free agent offers. Currently, all personnel offers must be handled through the commissioner.
Priority: High

Suggestion: Leaguewide financial page
Reason: There needs to be a place where you can get a quick look at every team's payroll, cash on hand, expected revenue, etc. Especially important in online leagues where the commissioner is charged with monitoring financial problems (like teams falling too far into debt, teams exceeding spending or salary limits, etc.).
Priority: I'd call it a high priority.

(I recognize that this does apply to both online and offline leagues, but because I believe it has added importance for online leagues, I think it's on-topic in this thread. Feel free to delete this if you disagree.)

Suggestion: Online Draft
Reason: I'm not sure if this is even technically possible in the scope of this game but it would be great to have some form of online drafting capability.
Priority: Low

Suggestion: Live Broadcast
Reason: I'd like to see the live broadcast return so Commish's could broadcast important games like the all-star game and championships.
Priority: Medium

I would rate this much higher priority, and I believe that it is feasible.

The AI has to already have a system for rank ordering the players, from the perspective of a given team. I am pretty sure that this rank ordering could be overridden by a list exported by the team general manager.

The problem will kick in when general managers want the AI to use the list wisely, not picking a catcher in both rounds one and two, for example. But that is what I would rate a low priority... Online leagues can do one round per import for the crucial early rounds, and after that let the chips fall where they will.

Suggestion: Streamline Commish actions

Reason: As it is, it is rather awkward to deal with things like DFA time expiring, etc. For each team, you need to go to "act as" that team, go into that team's DFA, and make the move. Ideally, the commish would instead get a dialgoue box opening which asked what action to take.

Priority: Medium

Suggestion:Ability to "watch" games play out as they have been recorded in the play by play file using the in game interface.
Reason: I want the excitment of being a GM and sitting in the stands watching my team perform.
Priority:Low

Thanks.

Suggestion: Commissioner Mode having control of all teams and all aspects of the league
Reason: Similar to my focus of going back to what made OOTP great for online leagues. You can have your one commissioner team where "Act As" turned off, or in my prior suggestion, removed altogether. The commissioner can go through anywhere he/she needs to and make whatever changes is needed to be done, while the commissioner runs his own team
Priority: Mid-High

Suggestion: A log file that tracks all actions a commissioner makes
Reason: If we are going to add the above idea into the game, I suggest that we add a feature in which every time the commissioner exports HTML files from the game, it also exports some sort of file that isn't editable by the commissioner, that he can put up for all owners to view. This will help in catching cheaters, like I said, if my above idea is implimented.
Priority: Mid-High

An alternate idea:

Suggestion: Allow each team to pre-rank their preferences for players before a draft within the game itself. When the draft comes to their turn, their highest ranked player remaining in the draft is chosen.

Reason: It would allow people to personalize their draft choices without forcing commissioners to sift through a whole lot of lists outside of the game.

Priority: Medium

Edit: Er, I guess this is what Beorn wrote above, but it's now in the requested format.

Suggestion: Allow a commissioner to manually enter stats into the game.

Reason: A commish should be able to edit anything and everything. There are also probably several other reasons, but I'm drawing a blank right now.

Priority: Low

Suggestion: There should be an option to prevent league owners from entering their own extensions, entering their own FA offers or releasing players.

Reason: Many leagues have special rules governing some of these activities and by allowing owners to perform these actions on their own, they can circumvent this.

Priority: High
