Ok, I'm not new to baseball...been watching and playing all of my life. Reading the game log is giving me a migraine though.
I'm trying to figure out the various zones for a ball put into play. I can't seem to find any resource that gives me a cheat sheet or anything like that. Example: Fly out F9, (Line Drive, 9D) Now the "Fly out F9" part I get...I know how to keep score and all of that. But the "Line Drive, 9D" has me a little confused. I'm guessing the 9 is referring to right field (though not necessarily the right fielder), but what is the D? Here's another example: SOLO HOME RUN (Flyball, 8LXD) I get the home run part (I'm slow, not dumb). And again I'm assuming that 8 refers to a part of the field (center field). But what does the LXD mean? Any help is greatly appreciated. |

I don't recall the thread I got this from, I just linked it to my favorites until I can get it printed.
http://www.retrosheet.org/location.htm Of course different sized parks might have different (more or less) zones maybe, but this is pretty standard (i think) and scale-able too. I have not been able to play 2006 much, but I have definate plans to track my sp's hits given up and outs recorded via this method once I get the leagues going. I think it will show which of my infielders is really killing my ground ball pitcher(s). And which out fielder really is "too slow". Last edited by Mad Jackal; 08-02-2006 at 07:35 PM. |
