IMO, considering that he is a catcher I would say there is a good chance he would be. .300 average, 2000+ hits.......I'd vote for him.

One time Rookie of the Year
One time Player of the Month (Aug. 2013) Five time All star (2010,2015,2016,2017,2018) Took at least 16 years to collect 2000 hits (probably more since he signed his last contract in 2024) Borderline stats; No clue on his fielding ability. Often injured late in his career. No Championships. Avg. Season (from career stats assuming only 16 seasons): 136 Hits, 23 HR, 78 RBI He would be very borderline for me, I'd lean towards no, especially considering modern era settings... Potentially I could be swayed, but my first instinct is to say no. Edit - Keep in mind OOTP catchers don't necessarily get as "worn down" as real catchers. (I.E. most OOTP catchers manage to remain a catcher their whole careers, rather than having to change positions in order to preserve their bodies) As a result saying that these are good numbers "for a catcher" is not always valid in OOTP. I would say yes...catchers very rarely put up those numbers. 2000+ hit catchers are rare. Couple that with a .300 batting average and 300 plus homers...I'd say he's in....assuming he actually played most of his games at catcher.

I thought he was borderline too (even though he's me in the FOB) at age 39 he's now in A ball for Seattle and ratings have dropped to 2's / 1'2 so I am pretty sure he is gonna retire...
Don't know how or can't get to fld stats but his arm was A, Def was C with .957

I'd vote no.
As I believe Scott pointed out, catchers in OOTP seem to be able to play more games per season than in real life. Thus, their offensive output should be compared to any other regular in the league. In my career league, my starting catcher averages between 150-155 games played per season over about a 8 or 9 year career. He's always in the .280 to .290 range, with 40+ homers and 115+ rbi's, but since offense is pretty high overall, I don't think he deserves to be in the HOF. My HOF usually consists of guys who put up outstanding numbers, not just very good numbers. If a player doesn't have 3000 hits, or 550 homers or a lifetime .325 average with 2500 hits, don't even think about it in my league. But then again my offensive totals are higher than the norm (team ba's range from about .270 for the worst team to .305 to the best, plus the homer leader usually his mid to high 50's, and leading RBI man usually has about one per game, or 160 or so per season). |

It's funny to watch this conversation take place.
You are talking about whether a player should make the HoF pruely on the basis of his Statistical output. There is little discussion of the number of time he helped lead his team to the playoffs, or how he helped develop a young pitching staff into All-Stars themselves, etc. Gary Carter would be a good example.(http://www.baseball-reference.com/c/cartega01.shtml) 19 Seasons BA .262 H 2092 HR 324 RBI 1225 An there isn't a lot of question if he should be in the HoF (72% of the vote last time) In real life he have a different perspective on the players. An even though we can and do get attched to our OOTP players, it mostly comes down to numbers for HoF consideration. Not saying Mark's player should or shouldn't be in the HoF, just think it's funny how we judge OOTP players vs the discussions that pop up in the 'Talking Baseball' forum about real players and whether they should be in the HoF.

Well since some of those actions are still pending court dates, and the fact that I'm still looking for a new team mascot because you had my old one, "Shot, Stuffed, & Mounted", (I hope in that order!) I thought I'd stick to the 'on field' actions.
