Salary Cap

Anyone else having a problem with the salary cap not working? I set the cap to $100 million, the AI teams seem to respect the cap, but the user team can sign free agents at will over this amount. Here are a couple of things that I think may have caused this fubar.

1. I am playing in commish mode. Is this allowing me to go over the cap?

2. I have "Team owner controls budget" set to NO.

I know I probably should have posted this in tech support, but I wanted to run this through the General Discussion forum first to see if this is a ID10T (user) error, or if this is a problem. Those tech support guys have enough to look though.

OK,

I think I have figured a few things out here. If you are in commish mode, you can sign a player even if you are over the salary cap. I was playing in commish mode because I did not want to be fired. If I turn off commish mode, I can no longer offer contracts that go over the cap.

So, the work around I tried to do was play with commish mode off (so the salary cap would work) and play with "Enable Online League Mode" turned on to avoid getting fired. This did not work becaue you cannot sim with "Online League" turned on without being the commish.

Back to more testing. I am sure I am missing something obvious, but it just hasnt hit me yet.

Getting fired isn't a big deal, which is good since the owner AI seems to have very little patience.

My '87 Royals were about 15-25 to start the season and I got the axe.

All I had to do was turn on commish mode and re-take control of the Royals, then turn commish mode back off. I didn't notice any changes made to the team while I was out of control - my lineups and rotation were the same.
