Raising ticket prices

Will the owner raise ticket prices over the years, or will i have to go in as comissioner and do that manually?

Even the Commish cannot change ticket prices.

The owner will raise prices. I saw last night in testing that the Yankees upped their prices to $16.50.

They had to pay for Rennie Stennett, you know.

I've played one league for 4 or 5 seasons, my owner has upped the ticket price twice.

Yet in real life, $16.50 wouldn't get you more than an uncomfortable seat on a general admission bleacher.

What is it about the OOTP financial system that makes up for the unrealistically low ticket prices?

I had always assumed that the ticket price was an average ticket price.

They're only unrealistic as long as you don't fix them to your liking in the league setup, you know.

Yeah, I get that it's the average ticket price.

Now let's take Raidergoo's example. The "average" ticket price for the Yankees in his league is $16.50. The actual average ticket price for the Yankees is $28.27.

The default average ticket price for the "major league" level in the game is $10. The actual average ticket price in the MLB is $22.21.

Yes, I know this can be changed. My question still stands, though: What in OOTP's financial engine makes up for the large variation from reality in ticket prices? Are the media contracts inflated? Merchandise? What is set too high?

Not sure. It goes both ways too though. Most of the time the average ticket price is too high for a team. Example is minnesota. $16 can get you a ticket on the lower deck in the outfield. $6 gets you in the game. Almost the entire upper deck outfield is $6 tickets. So it goes both ways of being too much and too little.

Nothing's set to high. OOTP doesn't take into account any expenses besides player and coaches salaries.

If you can still find the information from MLB after the 2001 season in their report to the Senate, you'll see that operating expenses go far, far beyond just players and basic coaches.

The average price for the Twins is $17.26, though. So it's still quite a bit higher than the base OOTP average.

(As a side note, that makes me wish I lived in Minneapolis. After I moved here, my now-wife then-fiancée and I went to pretty much every $5 ticket night the Expos had. I didn't give two craps about the Expos (although they did grow on me eventually) but it was the ability to see MLB games for very cheap. So with $6 seats all the time, I imagine I'd go to about 70 games a year if I lived the same distance from the Metrodome as I do Stade Olympique.)

That's what I was looking for. Thank you. Such an obvious answer, but one that had managed to entirely elude me.
